The first PS5 game is up for pre-order, but don't get too excited.

Scarlet Nexus, an action title revealed at the Xbox Series X game reveal event, appears to be the first PS5 game to pre-order. Amazon.com (via GameRant) lists the game with a price tag of $59.99, attached to a provisional release date of December 31, 2021. It's notable, if only because another of the few games confirmed for next-gen consoles, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, is only available for pre-order on PS4 and Xbox One right now. We expected PS5 games to be widely available for pre-order when Sony opens pre-orders for the console, though games may start to become available for purchase after the event. PS5 game reveal currently postponed. Scarlet Nexus is a pretty anime-style RPG set in what the publisher describes as a ``BrainPunk'' world. Here's the trailer for this Xbox live stream if you missed it: It also happens on PS4 and Xbox One.

Does that tell us anything about next-gen gaming?

Not particularly. While Scarlet Nexus has been announced for next-gen consoles, the price and version details seem like placeholders. We don't know if the arrival of the PS5 and Xbox Series X will lower the prices of the software or not, but that is the type of information that we will learn closer to the launch of a console. Still, it's a reminder that the next console generation really isn't that far away. Both consoles are expected to launch during the 2020 holiday period (which spans from October to December).
