The First Nintendo Direct in Over a Year Starts Tomorrow - Here's What to Expect

In a very characteristic move, Nintendo has just released the announcement of a full-blown new Nintendo Direct, scheduled for February 17 at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, and 10pm GMT. In a tweet sent out by major Nintendo accounts around the world, the upcoming Direct will focus on the two games currently released as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the games scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021.

Tune in on February 17 at 2pm PT for a live stream of #NintendoDirect with around 50 minutes of information focused on available games like Super #SmashBrosUltimate and upcoming games on #NintendoSwitch in the first half of 2021. pic.twitter . Better late than never

The news period has been somewhat slow for Nintendo since the start of the pandemic, without many updates for hot releases from both proprietary and third-party developers. What exactly will be revealed during the Direct is a mystery. Considering it will be heavily focused on games releasing in the first half of the year, this casts doubt on Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3. Perhaps we'll see more in the form of remasters taking over. Things may look more likely for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, as few to no title updates have been shared since its initial trailer in 2019. The project's release date is low. It's likely, but we're at least waiting for a development update. It's the first Nintendo Direct in a long time, and 50 minutes should make for some substantial reveals, but it's worth keeping your expectations in check. Hopefully there will be more Nintendo Directs to come as we get closer to the second half of the year. Today's best Nintendo Switch deals
