The end of BlackBerry phones? TCL confirms that it will not do more

The current maker of BlackBerry devices has confirmed that it will not be making any new phones under the iconic brand. TCL Communication has been producing BlackBerry devices since late 2016, which includes phones like the BlackBerry KeyOne and Key2, but has now confirmed the end of their partnership. The company will no longer sell BlackBerry devices after August 31, 2020, and has no right to "design, manufacture, or sell new BlackBerry mobile devices." TCL Communication will continue to support warranties for devices until August 31, 2022, but has not confirmed whether it will offer new software updates to existing devices up to this date. We asked TCL Communication if this was the case, but have yet to hear from the company.

This means that the company is unlikely to take responsibility for manufacturing, but we may see another company take over in the future.
