Good news for fans of Paradox Interactive's medieval drama simulator: a new free update has just been released.
The new update 1.8.0, titled "Dress", added several new features to the game, as well as various tweaks and bug fixes. As is tradition with Crusader Kings 3 patches, these changes range from necessary and helpful gameplay tweaks to downright hilarious bug fixes.
The new patch brings a range of new features, including the ability to save and load custom rules, the addition of unique new artwork for all of the game's premises, an overhaul to the leaderboard screen, and 17 new game icons. However, as you'll soon see, there's a lot more to unpack when it comes to this latest update.
Crusader Kings 3 is a highly narrative strategy game set in the Middle Ages, where players assume the role of prominent rulers and live their lives at the top of the feudal pyramid as strategy meets RPG. The lives of the characters in Crusader Kings 3 are famous for being engaging, dramatic, and sometimes a bit silly. Simply put, it is one of the best strategy games on PC, although it is also available on Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

The most heartbreaking thing about this is how Paradox has made it easier for players to disinherit children who are bastards or have disputed inheritance. Medieval politics is a cutthroat world, so that kind of bad breeding is to be expected. However, even among the ruthless maneuvers of the medieval elite, this course of action seems a bit over the top. In fact, you will suffer a "general opinion penalty" if you choose to disown your poor unsuspecting children. It would seem that even for the coldest tyrant of the Middle Ages, denying children from him is not a good idea.

Although the official stuff costs more, Paradox's Medieval Tour de Force provides a veritable rabbit hole for strategy and history buffs alike.
Crusader Kings 3 holds a special place in the hearts of gamers for providing intricate and spiraling narratives for its characters. By offering a deep and complex simulation of medieval geopolitics, Paradox's game has built a machine that produces truly emergent stories that, thanks to player interference, are rarely repeated.
Although the game produces some fun patch notes, it's definitely worth a try, especially if you want to get caught up in some story-heavy medieval shenanigans.
