Best Superhero Games: What to Play Until Marvel's Avengers Assemble

Avengers: Endgame may have packed the MCU into a neat (albeit emotional) arc, but we're still looking to erase that superhero itch, and hopefully the Crystal Dynamics Avengers gameplay will be perfect.

In Marvel's Avengers, players take on the roles of the most popular Avengers characters in a single-player story-based game that also features four-player cooperative missions, because you can't save the world alone.

Plus, new characters, regions, and missions will be added for free after launch, as part of an ongoing multi-year plan for the game, but who's on the super list? The playable characters revealed so far are: Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Thor. Kamala Khan, aka Marvel, was also briefly featured at the Comic-Con panel at Marvel Games, and Hawkeye was very prominent.

While Marvel's Avengers only came out on May 15, 2020, that doesn't mean you have to do without the superhero solution. So, in anticipation of the long wait, we've rounded up 10 of the best superhero games the Hulk can still play.

God of War (2018)

This is the start of LaComparacion's 2018 game, God of War. Featuring mature and emotional writing, tactical percussion fights, and characters we fell in love with, God of War is an outstanding reboot of the beloved series of murderous beloved deities and a secretly sensational superhero game.

The biggest superhero fight ever created for a video game is at the beginning of Kratos' journey north. A fierce, determined, and destructive head-to-head fight makes it hard to imagine a superhero fight that makes it better, no matter your support.

Gaming's largest weapon, Kratos' Leviathan Ax, works the same way as Thor's hammer, allowing the player to throw the Leviathan and retrieve it with the push of a button. The developer behind the ax, Crystal Dynamics' Vince Napoli, is now tasked with making the Marvel Avengers heroes feel like powerful heroes we know and love.

TT Games LEGO titles have been a constant source of fun since the launch of LEGO Star Wars in 2005. LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 does not revolutionize the revolutionary formula, but with the same charm, comic chops and hundreds of playable pieces. Marvel Characters, this is another big hit from TT Games.

Where the sequel excels beyond its predecessors is in its hilarious and inventive storyline. The journey villain Kang the Conqueror uses his power to combine a host of classic Marvel locations, such as 2099 New York, Asgard, and Wakanda, to form the open world of Chronopolis where players engage in a cosmic confrontation with Kang.

Just Cause 3 (with Sky Fortress DLC)

Superhero games don't necessarily have to involve powerful colorful spandex characters, such as God of War, a superhero game is sometimes defined by its mechanics, rather than its characters, and the Sky Fortress of Fort Cause 3 DLC contains a unpleasant mechanics.

Rico Rodríguez's ambitious third adventure already looks heroic with his combination of fighting and creative wrestling, but Sky Fortress wins with the rocket-powered Bavarium Wingsuit. This powerful upgrade allows Rico to fly through the air like a winged Iron Man, with only a slightly accelerated cooldown to restrict his flight. Like Iron Man, the Wingsuit Bavarium also has search missiles and a machine gun to wreak havoc in the skies.

Batman: Back to Arkham

Batman: Return to Arkham collects the first two games of the acclaimed Rocksteady series, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. These are arguably two of the best superhero games ever designed, Asylum in particular becomes a game changer in terms of fluid action combat.

Ten years after Rocksteady's first shot at the Dark Knight, this combat system has been adopted as an industry standard. Stealth mechanics, captivating villains (including Scarecrow's jaw-dropping psychological horror interludes), and more gadgets you can't dream of, Rocksteady's first forays into the world of Batman are masterful and set a precedent for superhero video games.

Batman: Arkham VR

Developed by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham VR allows players to take cover and participate in a short but enjoyable experience from Batman's point of view. There is no exciting combat experience here, but a murder mystery makes you think that you are becoming the "best detective in the world", using your motion controllers to interact with Gotham City and its villains.

Arkham VR is an imperfect gem that deserves to be discovered if you like the detective sections of the main Rocksteady Arkham titles.

Infamous: second son

One of the first PlayStation 4 exclusive titles, Infamous: Second Son, sees players play the role of Delsin Rowe (with the perfect voice of Troy Baker), a person with extraordinary abilities known as Conduit, in the quest to defeat an anti-Conduct. organization.

As a conduit, Delsin can absorb the powers of other conduits. Delsin then absorbs multiple powers, each with their own crossover mechanics and fighting styles, and accompanied by a wonderfully unique style and flair.

A black and white moral system doesn't detract from a great superhero / antihero story, with a wonderfully fluid and fast crossover, stunning neon-infused visuals, and a vast arsenal of powers. If you're looking for immense power in a superhero game, then Sucker Punch's Infamous: Second Son meets these criteria.

The Marvel Avengers, like the Avengers MCU movies, will focus on the art of the team of heroes. Iconic characters who have never shared the scene before joining forces or facing off is a formula that has worked wonders for Marvel, and a formula that has worked for decades for Nintendo as well.

If your colorful characters may not be screaming "superheroes" in the same way as Captain America, there's no way to talk about the team of heroes without mentioning Super Smash Bros. Ultimate of Nintendo, the king of the crossover. Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Cloud, Kirby, Samus, Star Fox, Snake, Isabella; Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch features all of these characters, as well as 70 other characters in what is arguably the most ambitious fighting game of all time.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Creating a sequel to the excellent Assassin's Creed Origins is not a trivial matter, but let it continue with a title as beloved as Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Kassandra (the only real character option) is a fantastic female lead, with an immediately lovable personality and attitude.

His journey through ancient Greece and beyond is rich in superhero abilities: no damage from falls, a powerful Spartan kick to send enemies flying, an unmatched fighting force, and a rainbow unicorn Heaven as a companion. This is the Wonder Woman game of your dreams.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

The perfect space between the most serious Avengers: Endgame and Marvel's Avengers, and Team Ninja's Ultimate 3: The Black Order: The Black Order is a hilarious, hilarious, and comic-inspired delusion. Like previous games in the series, Ultimate Alliance 3 is a cooperative mask press in which players form a team of four from one of Marvel's 36 iconic heroes to face mounting threats.

Crazy team attacks, well crafted CGI scenes with this MCU charm, deep RPG elements, and plenty of incentives to replay. Despite some glaring camera issues, preventing Thanos from using the Infinity Stones has never been so lighthearted.

Marvel's Spider-Man

best superhero games

Insomniac Games was the perfect studio to bring Marvel's most popular hero exclusively to PlayStation 4. Marvel's Spider-Man is a triumph in almost every respect. Marvel Games faces the challenge of replicating Spidey's success with the most powerful heroes on Earth. Insomniac has finely crafted its own unique interpretations of classic characters and incorporated them into a compelling narrative from start to finish. Could we see a crossover between Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Avengers?

It can be argued that Insomniac has also created the most sensational transversal mechanic in video games. Navigating New York City at breakneck speed never goes out of style. Even if you don't care about Spidey's fantastic story, browsing the web makes Marvel's Spider-Man a must-have. Nuff said.
