You activate a spring-loaded switch around the shutter, which extends the lens to 95mm. The instax wide format is much larger than a digital sensor, which is equivalent to a moderate wide-angle lens. However, for a large camera, the Instax Wide 300 has a small viewfinder. It takes practice to even line up your eyes with the eyepiece. Otherwise it is easy to use and gives very good results. When the usual instax mini format produces small photo "tokens", these are more like proper photographs.
