What Makes a Good Kindle Price?

These readers do not have an LCD screen or powerful internal components. Therefore, you will find Kindle sales prices to be much cheaper than tablets and phones. The screens are fantastic for glare-free reading and an immediate improvement over using the Kindle app on your phone or tablet. If you can find the Kindle Paperwhite for under $129 / £120 / AU$199, you'll get a great deal on it. The new entry-level Kindle 2019 model is sure to see discounts on its $89.99 / £69 / AU$139 price soon. Prices for the premium Kindle Oasis model start at $269 / £229 / AU$389 and rarely go down.

What do the "special offers" mean in the Kindle listings?

When you view a listing for Kindle e-readers, whether on Amazon's website or at another retailer, you'll often see ``includes special offers'' in the item's title or description. Choose "no specials" and the price will increase by $10 / US$20. Essentially, these specials act as Amazon-based screensaver ads on your Kindle device. So when you open your Kindle from sleep mode, you'll see an ad for a book in the Amazon Kindle store, or perhaps a third-party ad. Boring, right? I actually opted for the specials (I love cheap deals), and it didn't bother me at all. You can easily drag the ad over (without trying to find the little X icon here) and read it right away. In standby mode, the ads scroll on the screen, but they are not illuminated and do not appear to consume power. They also don't slow anything down when the device is turned on after shutdown. Ads are replaced with generic artwork if you have removed them. Since these ads don't interfere with the experience at all, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money to block them. Hello, some sales are worth a click. If you really don't like them, you can always pay the difference at a later date to have them removed. Therefore, we prefer the cheapest option "includes special offers" first. Here are the best cheap Kindle prices currently available...

Kindle Price 2019

The entry-level Kindle now has a backlit display

Screen size: 6 inches | Storage: 4GB | Resolution: 167ppi | Weight: 174g | Backlight: yes | Touch screen: yes | Battery life: up to four weeks. Includes a backlit display Worth paying extra compared to previous version Still a bit low-res Amazon's latest version of the entry-level Kindle has been improved for 2019 by including a built-in light, which means you don't need to get the Kindle Paperwhite if you want to read your Kindle at night without additional lighting in the room. It's a nice upgrade, but it did push up the starting price a bit compared to the 2016 Kindle. Amazon's Kindle with built-in light starts at $89.99 / £69.99 / $139A. The screen itself, however, is just 167 dpi, as opposed to the Paperwhite's higher resolution of 300 dpi. The Paperwhite (which is now waterproof and designed with a flush-bezel display) gets deep discounts several times a year, so if you pick the right time, you might not have to pay much more for it instead. , get Kindle Basic (if current). 2018 Kindle Paperwhite Award

Excellent value for a waterproof, backlit display

Screen size: 6 inches | Storage: 8GB / 32GB | Resolution: 300ppi | Weight: 182g | Backlight: yes | Touch screen: yes | Battery life: up to six weeks. Now waterproof Flush-display design Reasonably priced for the tech inside. Amazon updated the excellent Kindle Paperwhite in 2018. It wasn't just a simple numbers update either, with a deep dive into the internal spec sheet to spot the differences (we left that on MacBooks, right?) The new Paperwhite is as good as you can get the temptation to abandon the previous version, which we still love. The backlit screen is now flush with the bezel, meaning there are no more places for dust or hair to get caught. And part of the reasoning behind this update is to make sure the Kindle Paperwhite is now a waterproof reader, just like the much more expensive (but absolutely beautiful) Kindle Oasis. The cheapest model now has double the storage capacity at 8GB, which is useful if you read picture-heavy books, like graphic novels/comics. And it's 20 grams lighter. This extra space is also handy for audiobooks, a new addition to the Paperwhite that you can enjoy through Bluetooth speakers/headphones. The latest Kindle Paperwhite prices start at $129.99 / £119.99 / AU$199, but we see significant discounts at various times of the year, so it's always worth waiting for a better deal.

Amazon Kindle Kids Edition Award

A Kindle with kid-friendly features and bonuses.

Screen size: 6 inches | Storage: 8GB | Resolution: 167ppi | Weight: 288g | Backlight: yes | Touch screen: yes | Battery life: up to four weeks. Child safety features Includes blanket 1 year of free access to 1000 eBooks Costs more than a standard Kindle The Kindle Kids Edition takes the basic 2019 Kindle (mentioned above) and adds a ton of kid-friendly features. It comes with a cover as standard with a nice 2 year warranty that covers any form of breakage (great for clumsy kids). Kindle Kids Edition isn't waterproof like the Paperwhite, but the extended warranty covers it. The built-in dictionary (just hold your finger on a word) is a fantastic learning resource and there's a vocabulary building option too. A partner app allows parents to track how much time their kids have read and what they're reading. There are no games or web browsers included on this Kindle, so you never have to worry about them getting sidetracked from your book. You also get one year of free access to over 1,000 kid-friendly titles, and other eBooks can be added from the Kindle store. With twice the cheaper Kindle storage at 8GB, you'll have plenty of room for them, too. Some parents may want to consider the cheaper standard Kindle if their child is likely to age for security features (they can keep the same reader for years) or if the restrictions seem too much for the content. 'ebook. On the plus side, you can unlock additional features, making it a standard Kindle if you choose to do so via a PIN code. The Kindle Kids Edition costs €109 in the US and €99 in the UK.

Kindle Oasis (2019) deals

The best is now even more pleasing to the eye.

Screen size: 7 inches | Storage: 8GB / 32GB | Resolution: 300ppi | Weight: 188g | Backlight: yes | Touchscreen: Yes (and page turn buttons) | Battery life: up to six weeks. The new screen tint is excellent. Best for late-night reading Not much else has changed Always too expensive Amazon just upgraded the previous-generation Kindle Oasis to an all-new version. Kindle Oasis (2019) prices start at $249.99 / £229.99 / AU$399. It's not that different from the 2017 model to be fair, but it's being phased out of stores. The main new feature is an amber color option for the wallpaper. This "warm" light has a much more natural feel, like an old paperback. It looks quite lovely and less soreness to your eyes, especially if you read at night and want to relax. Otherwise, it's the same beautifully designed deluxe waterproof e-reader as last time. These page turn buttons are a nice feature as they keep the screen clean and work much more precisely than errant screen taps/swipes sometimes. It's impossible to skip the initial asking price, which means the Paperwhite is always that much easier to recommend.

Deals on Amazon Kindle Oasis

The luxury reading light you've been waiting for? < p class="specs__container">Screen size: 7 inches | Storage: 8GB / 32GB | Resolution: 300ppi | Weight: 194g | Backlight: yes | Touchscreen: Yes (and page turn buttons) | Battery life: up to six weeks. Page turn buttons on the side Beautifully held in the hand Very expensive The second version of the Kindle Oasis costs US$249 / €229 / AU$389 for the cheapest Wi-Fi version. This is an update to the old Oasis (which is no longer available) and a huge improvement. It's 15% cheaper, bigger, and was also the first Kindle to be waterproof (but the Paperwhite now has that feature, too). The Kindle Oasis was also the first Kindle to support Aubidle audiobooks, though you'll need a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones to use this feature, as there's no built-in speaker or 3.5mm headphone port. The Kindle Oasis ereader's 7-inch screen makes it the largest of the Kindle brands and appeals to readers who want a larger page view, meaning you won't have to turn pages as often. The page turn buttons have a wider bezel on the side than the now-abandoned Kindle Voyage, making it easier to grip with one hand - the screen will flip to accommodate left-handed readers, too. The significantly cheaper Paperwhite models are great alternatives and offer the same screen resolution. This large screen and this waterproofing for added peace of mind are very tempting. On the bright side, prices should start to drop now that a new model is available (see above). We check our Kindle deals daily to make sure they're always up to date and available!
