"The base of death is much better", says Norman Reedus on the cancellation of Silent Hills

Norman Reedus, the Walking Dead actor and current Death Stranding star, said Hideo Kojima's new game is "so much better" than Silent Hills would be.

Reedus commented in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, explaining that he was disappointed with the game's cancellation. However, when Kojima explained the concept of Death Stranding, Reedus "completely forgot about Silent Hills".

"I thought, thank God, it didn't work out because it's so much better," the actor said. "It's a completely different thing. I've really had a bit of Hideo's mind. Honestly, I appreciated the fact that Silent Hills didn't happen because I was totally surprised by how he thinks and works."

Silent Hills was announced in 2014, being a collaboration between Kojima, director Guillermo Del Toro, and horror mangaka Junji Ito. PT, the game's playable teaser, has become a gaming legacy and is considered one of the best horror games of all time. Five years later, the teaser unintentionally introduced a subgenre of horror and teased several "copycats" of the game over the years.

Death Stranding, meanwhile, will launch on PS4 later this week, on November 8.
