Text to Switch only sees SIM card sales

Only SIM card sales have increased significantly since the introduction of new rules that allow mobile customers to switch networks with a text message.

The text change regulation went into effect on July 1, greatly simplifying the process of changing the operator from what had often been a long and complicated process.

And consumers benefit: many of them choose to keep their existing phones and sign up for a SIM-only deal.

Figures from the Awin.com affiliate network suggest a 57% increase in mobile phone sales immediately after the new rules, with a 104% increase in SIM rates alone. There was also a boost for SIM Only offers at 30 days, with orders up 25%.

"Ofcom's new legislation has made it much easier to change the consumer rate. The results show that this had the desired effect. Sales of simulations immediately improved," said Dawn Quigg, Customer Service at Awin.com. Director.

"It shows the number of people who were potentially trapped or couldn't change before, who are now taking advantage of the changes."

According to the rules, when a customer submits a request for a cancellation code or PAC code (port authorization code), mobile operators must respond in a short time. one minute and the codes they send are valid for 30 days. These codes will be short and all mobile service providers must use the same codes.

In addition to submitting customer codes, providers will also need to include important information about potential early termination fees, unpaid phone charges, or pay-as-you-go balances.

Anyone wishing to change their phone number can do so by texting STAC at 75075 to request a "service cancellation authorization code."

Finally, anyone who does not know if he is still "under contract" and wants to know if he has to pay an early termination fee can send "INFORMATION" to 85075 to find out without requesting a change code.
