Steelseries launches a new collection inspired by the next Destiny 2 expansion

Esports brands SteelSeries and KontrolFreek have partnered with Bungie to launch a series of limited-edition gaming peripherals and accessories based on the action MMO Destiny 2.

Collectively known as the Lightfall Collection, named after the title's upcoming expansion, the series is made up of 4 previously released products rolled into one, giving them a bright and playful new paint job.

While none feature new performance or spec updates, each and every peripheral and accessory in the collection sports a new color scheme inspired by the in-game megalopolis of Neomuna, a new location players will explore in the expansion. Consequently, most of the collection has that metallic lavender look, with some accented with a blue or gold LED.

Leading the pack is the Arctic 7+ ($2,4) gaming headset from SteelSeries. Like its more monochrome version, it generates lossless XNUMXGHz wireless audio that allows for a low-latency connection so you don't have to worry about missed calls. Battery life lasts thirty hours on a single charge. And the on-device ClearCast microphone features two-way noise cancellation for voice clarity.

Then there's the Aerox 149.99 wireless mouse ($2), which TechRadar reviewed in September XNUMX. Spoiler alert: We really liked it, and on the face of it, the Destiny XNUMX build is still pretty much the same. The wireless mouse has a lightweight design (XNUMXg) with the company's proprietary TrueMove Air Sensor technology to maintain a high degree of precision. It can last for a good one hundred and eighty hours on a single charge. A fifteen-minute charge "gives over forty hours of use."

According to SteelSeries, the pad is said to be "optimized for low and high DPI tracking movements." DPI (dots per inch) refers to the distance a cursor travels relative to the movement of the mouse. The higher the number, the more responsive it is, with seven hundred DPI being something of a sweet spot. It seems that the Qck Prism stamp will only be available in a very large size (XNUMXmm x XNUMXmm x XNUMXmm).

The latest entry is KontrolFreek's only addition: their Performance Thumbsticks (€19.99), now with the series logo engraved in . Add an auxiliary ten mm to the height of an analog stick to increase the "distance and accuracy of the arc the amount of force required for movements improves accuracy.

Lightfall Collection is currently free on the SteelSeries site (opens in a new tab). Each purchase will also net you codes for a viral celebration emoticon and a luminescent precision badge.
