Spider-Man 3 is the 'most ambitious' superhero movie of all time, says Tom Holland

Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie looks like the MCU movie to watch next year. Speaking to Variety, Holland explained that Spider-Man 3, which is currently untitled, is "...really impressive", later stating that "it's the most successful independent superhero film. Ambitious ever achieved." Clearly excited about the project itself, Variety asked Holland if he could tell them anything about the MCU's third Spider-Man outing, which is the sequel to 2019's Far From Home. Naturally, he kept low-key about the movie. "Obviously I can't say anything," he replied. Holland was asked what the ending of the movie was. "Funny thing is, I almost told you back then," Holland said. "You were so close to getting what you wanted." Previous reports have suggested that this Spider-Man movie will converge all of the live-action Spider-Men to date into one story: Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles, according to Collider. THR also reported that Spider-Man 2's Doc Ock Alfred Molina was on board for this photo, with Jamie Foxx as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Could this be the element that makes this third Spider-Man movie so amazing? so ambitious? Holland explained a bit about what he's trying to accomplish with the new Spider-Man movie. “I can say that this is the most ambitious independent superhero movie ever made. You sit down, read the script, and see what they're trying to do, and they succeed. That is really impressive. I have never seen an independent superhero movie like this. Holland also spoke about the progress of shooting the film, saying: “We have a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and we were on tour for about seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas holidays, then we started again. I'm so excited as everyone is to see it, let alone be a part of it." The third Spider-Man movie is scheduled to open on December 17, 2021.

The third time, is it the charm?

Spider-Man Homecoming and Spider-Man Far From Home were well received by critics and fans alike, following the better reception for Andrew Garfield's latest Spider-Man picture, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The addition of Peter Parker in the MCU it's been a lot of that success, but the movies have been more cohesive overall. Hopefully, Holland's comments mark a major milestone in the trilogy. After Into the Spider-Verse, the prospect of seeing multiple Spider-Men team up in live action is surely very exciting for MCU fans. Tom Holland will also star in the upcoming Uncharted movie based on the popular video game series.
