The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus aims to challenge the notion that 5G flagships need to be expensive. This is the next factory-free chipset from the manufacturer, which will bring updates at all levels and add support for dual 5G connectivity. Like its namesake sibling, it is an octa-core chipset with four Cortex A77 cores and four Cortex A55 cores. It is based on a 7nm process, which should contribute to efficiency. For context, the Dimensity 1000 had four high-performance cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 2 GHz.
- The chipset supports 5G dual SIM, carrier aggregation, and MediaSek's proprietary 5G UltraSave power saving technology. The battery efficiency of the chipset is said to be better than that of the Snapdragon 865 5G SoC, due to the new power-saving technology as well as the integrated nature.
- The chipset is capable of dynamically adjusting the power settings and operating frequency of the modem according to network conditions and user activities, saving juice. The SoC is capable of automatically switching between 5G and 4G networks according to the needs of the application. It also helps reduce energy consumption.
- On the front of the screen, the Dimensity 1000 Plus supports a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, which is 2,4 times faster per second than a normal 60 Hz screen on many smartphones. To date, the Nubia Red Magic 5G has a tall 144Hz display. The Dimensity 1000 has a 120Hz limit for a 1080p panel.
- In addition, the Dimensity 1000 Plus incorporates HyperEngine 2.0 technology, which optimizes the smartphone to provide a fluid and immersive gaming experience. Optimization includes a resource management engine that ensures smooth game performance with minimal power consumption by managing CPU, GPU, and memory resources. The fast response engine ensures a lag-free gaming experience and also provides Bluetooth or Wi-Fi streaming simultaneously, without any hassle.
- Dimensity 1000 Plus incorporates the latest MiraVision technologies, designed to improve picture-by-picture quality. Using the built-in APU 3.0, the chipset can dynamically adjust the contrast per frame and provide better image quality of 4K content in real time. Furthermore, the company also claims that the MiraVision image quality engine provides details on 4K content, which is better than standard HDR10 +. Finally, the engine can also upgrade SDR content to HDR quality.
- To date, the Chinese Oppo Reno 3 variant includes the Dimensity 1000 5G chipset and there are no smartphones with the same chipset on the Indian market.
