The latest iPhone software update has arrived and brought several new features to Apple services, and soon Google will do the same with its own lock screen widgets.

The iOS 16 update brings people with an Apple smartphone from iPhone 8 to iPhone 14 new benefits, including returning battery percentage in the status bar, a cancel button in iMessage, and app widgets on the home screen. blocking.

These widgets give you immediate access to essential services and information and are customizable so you can tailor the lock screen to your needs.

Now, Google has revealed that its iOS 16 lock screen customization options will soon be available for its own suite of apps as well.

In a post on The Keyword blog (opens in a new tab), Google said six of its apps would have lock screen widgets.

A Google search widget will give you the option to search using text, voice, or a snapshot from your camera, and includes other Google Lens tricks like translation and homework help. If you're someone with a Gmail account, a widget in this app will automatically show you how many unread messages are waiting for you and what folder they're in.

And if you prefer Google Maps to Apple's more private Maps app, the Maps Frequent Trips widget will give you real-time updates on your most important trips (like your commute home or commute). Just tap on the route you want to take and Google Maps will take it from there.

In addition to this, Google Chrome, Google News, and Google Drive will also receive iOS 16 widgets.

In the blog post, Google only tells us to "watch for all these widgets in the coming weeks," so there's no exact timeline for when they'll appear. But we should see these widgets added soon, and with Google calling the race a "peek," it could hint that more Google's iOS 16 widgets are on the way, too.
