Soon you will be able to buy an official League of Legends gaming monitor

Gaming hardware manufacturer AGON has teamed up with developer Riot Games to create the first official League of Legends gaming monitor. AGON uses the AOC name for its monitors and is best known for its affordable displays that still have many of the advantages of more expensive models, such as high refresh rates and low latency.

The AG27QXL's 275-inch IPS display features a 1440p resolution, 170Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time, along with other features like good RGB lighting, Adaptive FreeSync, and DisplayHDR 400 VESA certification.

The website even says that the monitor will have unique League of Legends-flavored features outside of the physical design, with a home screen and on-screen display, both designed in the style of the popular MOBA, and an awesome external remote control. which allows you to switch between game modes and adjust game features.

The base of the screen is also a transparent disk emblazoned with the League of Legends logo that allows RGB lighting to pass through, as well as RGB light strips on the back of the screen. It is believed to be inspired by 'Hextech', a fictional company from the Riot universe that also appeared in the hit Netflix series Arcane, set in the world of League of Legends.

These lights will sync up with all in-game events, though there's no mention of whether they'll also work with other surround lighting systems like Razer Synapse. In the coming weeks you'll be able to pick one up from third-party retailers like Amazon for around $480 / £360 / AU$660.

Opinion: This could make me want to go back to LoL

League of Legends remains one of the most popular MOBA games in the world, probably due to the fact that it's free to play and its thriving esports community. It's gained a reputation for being a toxic gamer in recent years, but whatever your feelings are about the actual game, it's one of the most creative displays we've seen in a long time.

Outside of ultrawide screens like the Samsung Odyssey line, gaming monitor designs have been painfully bland in recent years, which stands in stark contrast to the amount of customization and design variation available in other areas of PC gaming, from PC for gaming and laptops to peripherals. such as mice and keyboards.

Even gaming chairs are becoming interesting and trendy, with brands like Secretlab offering models of gaming and esports equipment. If you wanted a complete LoL-inspired setup, they even offer an impressive collection to fit the style of your room.

I hope this starts a new trend for visually interesting monitors. I guess the market is small, but I've seen enough videos on YouTube and TikTok of tutorials on how to customize your screen by spraying it another color or a vinyl wrap to show me there's at least some demand there and offering unusual colors. or early designs are likely to capture those markets. After all, the alternative is to void your warranty by going the do-it-yourself route, which carries great risk.

Big games like League of Legends certainly seem to be one of the driving forces behind offering PC gaming gear that doesn't look like it belongs in 2005 or a stuffy office. I walked away from the game many years ago, knowing full well how bad it was (and other gamers wasted no time telling me the same thing), but the more products I see from the brand, the more nostalgic I long to return.

Yes, it's a marketing tactic, but I know how sensitive I am to it, so it does its job very well in trying to make sure people like me start playing certain titles again.
