Sony Just Announced Four New PS5 Games - Here's What You Need To Know
Sony has confirmed four more PS5 games as part of its new "Indie Initiative" program. In an article on the US PlayStation Blog, Shuhei Yoshida, head of independent PlayStation, announced the company's new promotion, which hopes to highlight and support the best indie games released on PS4 and PS5. A new standalone title will also be released on PS Now every month, starting with Hello Neighbor. The move is reminiscent of Sony's approach to launching the PlayStation 4. Despite having a slew of proprietary studio blockbusters like Killzone: Shadowfall and... uh, Knack, Sony invested heavily in promoting India, and had a variety of excellent exclusives like Resogun at launch. Most of the games will also be available on PS4, though they'll likely take advantage of unique PS5 hardware features like the DualSense controller. Here's a breakdown of each game below along with their gameplay trailers.

Worms rumble

The Worms games have become familiar with each generation, but the series takes an entirely new approach to Worms Rumble, leaving turn-based action for real-time warfare. A frenetic arena-based shooter, Worms Rumble certainly looks like a blast, and with support for cross-platform multiplayer and 32 players online, it's going to be hard to be the last worm standing when it comes to PS5.

Recompile

In what could be the first game to let you play like a sensitive virus, Recompile sees you infiltrate the digital and virtual world of the mainframe. The game combines a traditional exploration platform with dynamic storytelling that encourages player choice. Are you going to get into all weapons or hack enemies to turn them against each other? Ultimately, your choices will affect the future of the Recompile world.

Refuge

If you are looking for a relaxing cooperative adventure game, Haven may be for you. Coming to PS5 and PS4, the game was designed to "feel like a light breeze", according to the game's creative director, Emeric Thoa. He steers away from fast action in favor of simplicity and relaxation. That's not to say it's annoying by any means, just watch the trailer above and you'll see that it's quite the opposite.

Celestial bodies

To complete all four confirmed PS5 games, Heavenly Bodies asks players to take on the unique challenge of mastering weightless tasks. You'll need to use the left and right triggers and analog sticks to move your astronaut's arms and legs (kick with R1 and L1) as you try to keep a space station operational. The game makes full use of the DualSense controller, with adaptive triggers that allow you to feel objects slipping out of your grip and the density of the object you're holding. As for haptic feedback, you can feel the ship click, the levers snap off their base, and the loss of all sensation as your body drifts into the endless void. We always wondered what it looked like...
