Sony announces new PS5 studio
Sony has announced Haven Entertainment Studios, a new independent studio founded by industry veteran Jade Raymond, who previously ran Google Stadia's in-house developers until it recently shut down. Raymond officially introduced Haven Entertainment on the PlayStation Blog, where she revealed that Haven will be a passion project led by "talented game developers" with whom she has worked "for years." “It is time for us to refocus GAMES to a place where we can practice our crafts without barriers or obstacles,” Raymond wrote. “We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community. We want to put our passion at the service of a project. We want to do something wonderful for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games. to brighten people's lives. And Sony too. His commitment to excellence is unmatched. That's why I couldn't be happier for your support and encouragement. In addition to the studio announcement itself, Raymond also revealed that Haven Studios (as it will be referred to informally) is already working on a new, unannounced PlayStation IP. While no details have been shared about the exact nature of this new IP address, we expect it to be exclusive to PS5.

Who is Jade Raymond?

(Image credit: Ubisoft) Haven Studios was founded by Jade Raymond, CEO of the new studio after a long career leading other projects and studios. With over 25 years of experience in the video game industry, Raymond was a key player in the creation of the Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed franchises, founding Ubisoft Toronto and EA Motive Studios. Additionally, Raymond has worked on games like The Sims Online and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Until recently, she was Vice President of Google, running Google Stadia Games and Entertainment, playing a pivotal role in Stadia's internal game development. However, Stadia Games and Entertainment closed its doors last month and parted ways with Raymond. But Google's loss is Sony's gain and we can't wait to see what this industry veteran has in store for Haven Studios, especially with the gaming power of the PS5.
