Sky Sports introduces 360-degree holographic technology for open golf

Sky Sports says revolutionary new technology used when covering Open Golf this week will reveal to viewers the secret to a perfect professional golf swing. In the replay of the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush, Sky experts will use their new 'Sky Scope' feature, which allows presenters to analyze the techniques of star players using holographic replicas of each golfer. Players like Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and John Rahm visited Sky's mobile capture site during training timeouts to take part in special filming sessions. The footage is used to create lifelike holograms which are then transported to the Open Zone Sky studio, allowing the Sky Sports team to analyse, track and pause 360 degree player movement.

Jason Wessely, Sky Sports Director of Golf, said: "We always look to use innovative technologies to bring golf enthusiasts closer to the action, nowhere else in the Open where we host presentations.
