It's just a reality of how games are made and sold, and always has been. However: the increase in sales of all consoles reveals that people are more concerned with the short term at the moment. And as a short-term purchase, the PS4 and Xbox One will absolutely help you waste time in the coming months indoors. Both have huge catalogs of great software, and you'll spend a lot less on these machines than you'd likely have to buy on a PS5 or Xbox Series X (neither have confirmed prices yet).
