Samsung Premiere is the world's first HDR10 + projector - that's why it matters
Samsung has announced the launch of its Premiere line of home theater projectors, with two projector models coming this year, including a 4K triple laser projector that brings HDR10+ to home projection for the first time. With a worldwide launch scheduled for September or October, the Premiere line of high-end projectors offers a number of premium features, including support for the HDR10+ dynamic HDR format, making it the first line of projectors to launch. do it. You can expect it to land in South Korea and the United States first, followed by the United Kingdom and most of Europe (Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and the Nordic countries). Samsung Europe head of visual display Nathan Sheffield also told TechRadar that Samsung's flagship Premiere projector will deliver 2.800 lumens of brightness, beating the 2.500 lumens of the LG Cinebeam HU80KSW and Vava 4K laser projector, but not as high as the 3000 of the BenQ TK850. lumens. But that is not all. The projectors will be portable, portable enough to "move from room to room", at least, with dimensions of just 550 x 367 x 128mm. They will also be short throw which means you will be able to get a 100 inch throw at just 10cm or a maximum 120-130 inch throw at slightly further distance. Sheffield tells us that the bulb's housing will be "wrapped in premium fabric" and offer a "radical design" unlike anything we've seen before. Viewers will also receive the "full suite" of Tizen OS apps, which is the same app support and interface as the best Samsung TVs, something rarely seen these days, even in headlights. It's a bold entry for Samsung into the high-end projector market, given that it currently doesn't have much of an AV presence outside of TVs. You see the occasional portable projector from Samsung, like the recent SP-P400B, but nothing with that level of ambition.

Sound and vision

The LSP9 flagship projector, compared to the cheaper LSP7 model, will also feature a 4.2-channel speaker system ("two woofers, two tweeters") with 40W output, as well as Samsung's Acoustic Beam technology. on your best soundbars for directed room-filling surround sound. The LSP9 will also have a slightly larger projection of 130 inches, and the LSP7 will top out at 120 inches. We're told the LSP7 will feature a more conventional single laser projection system, but with an extended color gamut to incorporate yellow into its RGB color model for richer, more accurate color reproduction: “In addition to the wheel conventional chromatic, we also add yellow. This will now give you a full spectrum of colors, unlike what you would normally see with a conventional projector of this class, which is a blue laser with only RGB. . “This is a new category for us,” says Sheffield. “This is a new area of innovation and shows how at Samsung we continue to try to push these boundaries of technology into areas that were never really possible before. price for the Premiere line, but Sheffield told us that the two models would be on a par with Samsung's 4K and 8K TV lines.Given the specs involved, it's also impossible to pay less than $2000 / £2000 / AU$ 3000, and you're more likely to pay more than $3000 / £3000 / AU$4500.

HDR outlier

HDR (High Dynamic Range) has been a late addition to projectors, compared to its presence on most mid-range 4K TVs these days. Dynamic HDR formats like Dolby Vision and HDR10+, which add additional scene-by-scene metadata to further calibrate your picture, are especially more common on TVs than projectors, and the inclusion of HDR10+ here is really exciting. (You don't get Dolby Vision, though, like all new Samsung TVs.) So Premiere definitely has a leg up on the competition, especially when you add the premium audio support (4.2 channel speakers) and updated smart platform. Projectors often come with outdated smart TV software, making pairing it with a streaming device the best outcome, so introducing Tizen here could be a game changer. That said, a $30 / £30 / AU$45 streaming device isn't too expensive compared to a higher-end projector, so we'll have to see what the price is before recommending the former outright. But from specs alone, the Premiere line of projectors is unlike anything else on the market. Premiere projectors will also feature Tap View at launch, with multi-view functionality coming in the coming months. Check out some other projector deals here: BenQ True 4K HDR-PRO Home...
