Samsung India Establishes Innovation Lab at Delhi University of Technology

Technological specialties innovation labs seem to be something important. Oppo had one recently. Microsoft also had one and called it the engineering center. And now, Samsung India has inaugurated a Samsung Innovation Lab at the Delhi Technological University (DTU) as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus initiative. The company said it "is strengthening its commitment to the Skill India government initiative as part of its latest #PoweringDigitalIndia vision." With this, Samsung has eight technical labs across the country as part of its Samsung Innovation Campus initiative, which was previously called the Samsung Digital Academy. The other innovation labs are located at IIT-Delhi, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Roorkee and IIT-Guwahati and IIT-Jodhpur.

What will students learn in the Samsung lab?

“We are very excited about the new DTU lab, where our engineers will teach students advanced technologies and also help them work on disruptive innovation. We are convinced that this will enable students to find employment in the future,” said Kyungyun Roo, general manager of the Samsung Research and Development Institute, in a press release. As part of the lab, engineers from the Samsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-N) will work with DTU students and professors on collaborative research projects in the fields of smartphones. DTU students and teachers will acquire skills in areas such as application framework, multimedia, health and safety. Projects will focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision. So far, more than 200 students have worked with SRI-N engineers on research projects and received training, Samsung said. In addition, these laboratories have trained more than 1.000 students.

Samsung Certificates for Students

"DTU's new lab, part of the Samsung Innovation Campus initiative, will help students seize the growing opportunities of digital technologies while driving their talent towards Samsung's philosophy of Powering Digital India," Partha Ghosh, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung India, he said. Collaborative research projects will be open to DTU B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D students, who will receive certificates for their contribution at the end of each project. In addition, Samsung engineers and students will also have the opportunity to work on various innovative and sustainable research projects to solve real problems that can benefit society.
