Samsung Galaxy S22 is old news as company teases MWC 2022 show

The annual MWC 2022 smartphone conference is fast approaching as it kicks off on February 28, and we're seeing plenty of companies announce their participation, including Honor, Realme and now Samsung.

Samsung shared the above trailer to confirm its event, along with a blog post confirming that "a new era of connected mobile devices" will appear.

Samsung's event takes place on February 27, which is technically the day before MWC kicks off, but we often see companies rushing it a bit. The event will be hosted on YouTube.

Analysis: what did we see?

This text seems to confirm the release of devices we've never seen before: the word "new" probably doesn't refer to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S22 or Tab S8 devices, as they're technically not new anymore. Also, we don't see Samsung holding a second event for the same technology.

However, the teaser image makes us a little hesitant, as all the devices presented are existing devices. We can see the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Book Pro in different colors.

All these colors used remind us of Galaxy Bespoke Edition. If you forgot (and we don't blame you), this was announced last year as a way to buy select devices with custom colors and skins - Galaxy Watch 4 and Z Flip 3 were devices for which it was rolled out.

If we had to make any bets, we'd bet on Samsung's MWC event bringing the Bespoke Edition to more devices. That wouldn't exactly fit the "new age of connected mobile" tagline, but it could just be a marketing gag.
