Samsung Galaxy S22 case leak hints at split-screen feature

While the Samsung Galaxy S22 leaks have totally laid bare the upcoming Android phones, it's easy to overlook the small details when there are big leaks, and sometimes it takes minor leaks for us to notice the little things.

For example, hands-on case images for the entire Samsung Galaxy S22 range have been leaked via SamMobile. These wouldn't be noticeable otherwise, as they look nearly identical to phone renders we've seen before (and Galaxy S21 cases), but their design shows off a feature of the Galaxy S22 display that not everyone knows about. satisfied.

This character is a pantalla de borde plano. Samsung's previous flagship phones used curved-edge displays for a few generations until the design element was dropped on the Galaxy S21, and it looks like Samsung is sticking with its choice for the S22 and S22. Mas.

Leaky cases show edges that go all the way to the front, while cases for curved side screens usually only cover part of the phone's frame.

Note that we're talking about the Standard and Plus models here: Ultra devices have always had screens with curved edges, and if case leakage is anything to go by, that's not going to change.

So it seems likely that the Galaxy S22 series will stay true to the design of its predecessors, with completely flat screens even on the sides, and Samsung hasn't decided to go back to curvy design mode.

Analysis: good or bad?

Screens with curved edges are often quite divisive for flagship phones.

For one thing, phones with this feature are comfortable to hold, and the curved glass adds a level of high-end elegance that you just don't get with a "standard" smartphone.

On the other hand, screens with curved edges are very easy to press down on with the palm of your hand, so it's easy to accidentally select things you don't want when you're holding the phone. They also weaken the phone, especially since the covers cover less of the phone.

So some people like the feature and some don't, and it makes sense that Samsung caters to both audiences.

However, we usually see curved screens reserved for high-end phones, and it seems that the Xiaomi 12 and OnePlus 10 families, two contemporary rivals of the Galaxy S22, could go for the rounded glass design.

Since Samsung's only high-end phone with a curved-edge screen might just be the Ultra model, which we'd expect at a premium price, people who want a phone with high-end specs and a high-end design range, but it is not a very high price, they will find that Samsung is not giving them what they need.
