Samsung India today announced a new India-specific feature called AltZLife. This new feature is said to further enhance the privacy level of smartphones. Samsung says this feature is for users seeking more privacy while transitioning to digital life using their mobile devices.

Compatible smartphone users can easily switch between normal mode and private (secure folder) mode simply by double-clicking the power key. The AI feature on the device will also suggest moving private content to the secure folder. According to research by Samsung, 79% of Gen Z consumers admit to having content such as pictures, apps and private chats on their smartphones that they don't want their family members or others to see. On top of that, they also want to hide the fact that they have things that they don't want to share. AltZLife comes with two features, Quick Change and Content Suggestions. Both of these features help provide a private and secure experience for consumers. The on-device AI solution allows all processing to take place on the device and does not require any interaction with a server or the cloud. The Quick Switch feature helps users to instantly switch between two instances of the same application. One instance in normal mode and the other in private mode. For example, a consumer can easily move between the normal gallery and a private gallery. The private versions of these apps are protected by Samsung Knox in the secure folder. The device will request authentication when a user double-clicks the power button in normal mode. When switching from private mode to normal mode, no authentication is required. Content Suggestions is an AI based Secure Folder app. It is powered by AI and automatically suggests users to move private images from pre-selected categories to a secure folder. For this to happen, users just need to select specific faces or a type of image that they want to mark as private and keep them safe in the private gallery in the secure folder. The AltZLife feature was developed under the Make in India initiative and was developed by engineers at Samsung's research and development institutes in Bangalore and Noida based on consumer research information. Earlier this year, Samsung released Alive Intelligence, which offers a multilingual keyboard, smart cropping, helpful maps, and Finder.
