Samsung's new Neo QLED range shows it's all about 8K

Samsung has announced a launch date for its 2022 lineup of 8K and 4K Neo QLED TVs, at least for European territories. The brand offers three 4K Neo QLED TVs, as well as three 8K Neo QLED TVs, including the flagship QN900B, the follow-up to last year's excellent QN900A 8K TV.

Announced via the official Samsung Newsroom website, Samsung's six 2022 Neo QLED TVs will launch on April 8, with pre-orders starting March 16. You will also be able to pre-register your interest for a pre-order beginning in February. 22, if you're determined to pick up one of Samsung's latest Neo-QLEDs for yourself.

Unfortunately, so far we only have a confirmed release date for the UK and European countries, with no US details as of yet. However, a European launch suggests we'll get information on a US launch soon. We also don't have any pricing information yet, but expect to see all the pricing for the new Neo QLEDs when pre-orders go live in March, if not via of a separate announcement in advance.

Now for the televisions themselves. Samsung's 4 Neo QLED 2022K TV lineup includes the QN95B, QN90B, and QN85B. The QN95B and QN85B Neo QLED TVs will be available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch sizes. This also applies to the QN90B, but this model will also feature smaller 43-inch and 50-inch sizes.

The 8 Samsung 2022K Neo QLED TVs, the flagship models QN900B, QN800B and QN700B will launch simultaneously, with the first two available in 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch sizes. Meanwhile, the QN700B will come in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch sizes.

All of Samsung's 2022 Neo QLED TVs are seeing some pretty promising upgrades this year. The 14-bit HDR mapping should add even more detail to particularly dark and bright areas of the image, and the Sharp Adaptive Light control will try to produce the highest quality, most accurate image possible at all times.

The new Neo QLEDs will also feature multi-directional speakers, supporting Dolby Atmos surround sound for the first time. This means the TV's speakers can produce some really great sound - a rarity in the smart TV space where you usually require a top-of-the-line sound bar or speaker setup to get truly amazing sound.

Samsung's 2022 Neo QLED TVs also look like a big win for gamers. The TVs will be updated with Samsung Gaming Hub later this year, a dedicated interface that makes cloud gaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia available to play directly from the TV without the need for external devices.

Paired with low input lag (which Samsung 4K TVs have traditionally been fantastic at) and support for a 144Hz refresh rate on select models, Samsung's 2022 lineup of Neo QLED TVs might just be the most impressive list of the brand to date.
