Roborock S7

(Image credit: Roborock) If you're looking for the best robot vacuum cleaners in the business, the Roborock S7 clearly deserves a place on your list: it's powerful, it's smart, and it's going to do a pretty decent job of keeping your home clean. and tidy. Perhaps the biggest selling point here is the vacuum and mop combo, and the device's ability to switch between the two on the fly. Throughout our tests, the S2 detected carpets and non-rugs perfectly, so if you have a mix of surfaces in your home, you don't have to worry about getting your carpets wet when you're done. kitchen. Using the S7 is really as easy as pressing an app button, and it's smart enough to navigate across rooms, between chair legs, and around obstacles. The volume never rises above the level of a blow dryer, we've never seen the S7 clog up, and the quality of cleaning and mopping is impressive. It's not as good at vacuuming as a human with a standard vacuum, but that's true of any robovac right now: Its chunky size means a compromise in terms of absorption. If this is your first robot vacuum, don't expect to be able to part with your Dyson or Shark just yet, but you won't need to rely on it as often. It's worth noting that Roborock will be releasing a self-draining dock later in 7 that will work with the S7, but it's not on the market yet. For now, you will have to do your garbage can, but it is not a huge task.

Prices and availability

The Roborock S7 is now available for purchase in the US for € 649.99 (about € 470 / AU € 850) at Amazon and Walmart. Previous Roborock models have gone on sale in the UK and Australia, but there is no set date for international availability at this time.

Integrated

Roborock S7

(Image credit: Roborock) Roborock was no surprise when it came to the S7's design, and its appearance is very similar to previous models: a crushed cylinder, with a central dome housing the LiDAR scanner needed for the robovac to find its way. Function takes precedence over form when it comes to a device like this, but the Roborock S7 isn't entirely aesthetically ugly. White and black are your color options, and if you're wondering if it'll fit under your sofa, it's 96,5mm (3,8 inches) tall and has a maximum diameter of 353mm (13,9 inches). It has a 470ml dust cartridge and a 300ml water tank, which Roborock claims is enough to clean an area of up to 200m2 (2150sqft). At the top you will find control buttons to start and stop the device, start a local wipe and return it to the base. We love the LED light on top, which provides a reassuring glow while the device is scanning, charging, etc. Speaking of the base, the included docking station takes care of the charging and sits against a wall anywhere you like. It's pretty inconspicuous, but you'll have to find a place to put it. The sticky tape on the bottom is a nice touch to help keep it stable, and the robovac can automatically detach and reattach itself when cleaning is complete.

Performance

Roborock S7

(Image credit: future) For suction, the Roborock S7 retains the same 2500Pa suction power as its predecessor, and you can choose between 4 different modes: silent, balanced, turbo, or max. As you go up the ladder, the suction increases, but so does the noise, and battery life takes a hit as well. We'd rather have the options than not, and it's nice to see Roborock pack a high level of customization into device settings. We're impressed with how clean the Roborock S7 is on the highest setting, though it won't pick up even the slightest embedded dirt from your carpet; It won't replace your main vacuum, but it will mean you won't have to use it as often (which is pretty standard for the best robot vacuums on the market today). New to this model is a rubber brush, which should mean a deep clean and less maintenance down the road. The plane also flies quite intelligently, doing a good job of covering the ground efficiently, recognizing and avoiding obstacles, and entering turns. We also love the vocal feedback you get, so you know when the robovac is charging, for example, or when you've finished your rounds and are heading back to the dock.

Roborock S7

(Image credit: Roborock) A superior mop is the main upgrade you get with the S7; Previous Roborock models could mop, but this time the cleaner uses special sonic cleaning technology to apply up to 3.000 vibrations per minute. Another improvement is that the mop pad automatically rises when carpet is detected, so you don't have to manually switch between two modes during the same clean. In our tests, this sonic cleaner works very well, even on dried-on spills; in fact, the S7 is better at cleaning than vacuuming in terms of bottom line. For floors that have rooms with a mix of carpet, hard floor, and tile, you can simply turn the Roborock S7 off and have it detect what to do. Also included are all the Roborock perks we've seen before, including the ability to set certain no-go zones in the app and clean specific rooms instead of an entire floor. The only trick that isn't free on the S7 is being able to walk up and down the stairs on your own.

Application

Roborock S7 App

(Image credit: Future) Fortunately, the Roborock app is simple and easy to use - it's the same one that works with previous Roborock models, so if you have multiple devices from the same company, you can manage them all on the same application. Once you've loaded the app onto your phone and connected the Roborock S7 to Wi-Fi, you can simply turn it on without going through a lot of menus and options. There are options here, but you can browse through them at your leisure once you get used to how robovac works, which is a much better idea than having to go through half an hour of tutorials before the app sucks you in. Lets you get started. a cleaning routine. Overall, the app is intuitive and uncluttered: little touches like double-tapping to re-center the map seem well thought out, and key features you want to access (like vacuum mode and zone management) are easily accessible. . Once scanned, the cards can be saved, allowing you to set scheduled cleanings, clean just one or two rooms at a time, and more.

Battery duration

Roborock S7

(Image credit: future) There is a 5200 mAh battery installed inside the Roborock S7, which in our experience gives you close to 20 minutes of use for 15% battery at the highest suction levels. In one of our tests, cleaning an entire mixed-surface floor reduced battery life from 100% to 68% in 46 minutes, covering a total area of 35 square meters (377 square feet). As long as your Roborock S7 can return to docking, which you can do on autopilot, battery life isn't much of an issue, as it'll simply return to dock and recharge before completing the job. Charging isn't particularly fast though, so for larger households you may have to wait several hours for the S7 to cover everything.

Should you buy the Roborock S7?

Buy it if...

You have to mop and vacuum together
One of the main selling points of the Roborock S7 model is how seamlessly you can switch between cleaning and vacuuming in the same cleaning routine. You need a lot of customization options
With a variety of modes for vacuuming and mopping, along with cool features like no zones and scheduling, the robovac Roborock S7 gives you great flexibility. You want a self-emptying robovac (possibly)
Roborock is working on a self-draining dock that will arrive later in 2021, and the S7 will work with it, but keep in mind that it is not ready yet and it will cost you more.

Don't buy it if...

You want to stop cleaning completely
You need to tidy up before you power off the Roborock S7, and you'll also need to do a full vacuum from time to time, but that's the case with all those robotic cleaning machines now. Do you want a camera on board?
The S7 model doesn't take over all the features of the Roborock S6 MaxV; for example, there is no built-in camera. Remember that there are other Roborock models available. You have a tight budget
You get a lot of features and functionality for the price of the Roborock S7, but there are cheaper robovac models if you don't want to spend as much money. First revision in April two thousand and twenty-one
