Reviews on Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus

One minute review

Shark has become a popular choice in the home cleaning market in recent years, offering a range of vacuum form factors from upright to cordless models, and the CH950UKT (also known as the Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus in the United States and Australia) is the cheapest. in its $99.99 / £59.99 / AU$149.99 four-handset range.

The CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus was the UK's best-selling handheld vacuum in 2021 and it's easy to see why. It offers a compact and lightweight form factor that makes it perfect for cleaning cars, while being useful for quick cleanups around the house such as countertops, tabletops, and upholstery.

It comes with three accessories: a motorized brush for picking up pet hair, a crevice tool and a dusting brush, covering most use cases. It promises 10 minutes of battery life (though actually better than that in our tests) and has a 15 fl oz / 450 ml container, which is pretty generous in this market.

Considering its low price, the CH950UKT/Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus offers exceptional value. Although it only has one power setting, it proves to be powerful enough for most tasks thrown at it, and the battery life is enough to do a good cleaning of your entire car on a single charge. Its versatility with the included tools also makes it flexible to use, making it perfect for busy families, especially those with pets.

Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus Price and Availability

The CH950UKT costs £99.99 / £59.99 / AU$149.99 and is available direct from Shark in the UK and US, as well as Amazon and other online retailers, while Australian shoppers will have to visit retailers door-to-door. like Domayne or Harvey Norman. .

Just be sure to research the Pet Pro Plus model to make sure you get all the tools we're talking about here if that's important. There are some less expensive models (CH900/CH901, both without the "Plus" in the name) that are available at select retailers but come with fewer tools and in different colors.

It might be a great option if you're on a really tight budget, but it's already a great value handheld vacuum, made even better by the fact that it's also one of the best all-rounders we've tested.

Integrated

Measuring 20,5 x 3,7 x 4,3 inches / 52 x 9,5 x 11 cm, the CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus is quite compact and is probably better suited for storage in a closet than a counter. It is still an ergonomic design and comfortable to hold, with the handle integrated into its main body.

The power button sits at the perfect thumb height on the top of the vacuum and offers a single level of suction, while the yellow canister release button (pictured above) sits towards the end of the vacuum. nozzle and release the container down with a firm squeeze. The 12,8 fl oz / 450 ml container seems large enough for general car cleaning as well as cleaning around the house.

Considering I have two dogs, two kids under four, and very little time to keep my car in fair condition, I managed to pass the tests without having to empty the trash, which is pretty good. The bin mechanism is not very smooth when you need to empty it and we often need to use both hands to help open the bin.

This style of handheld vacuum gives you good control over cleaning, while the three different attachments (motorized pet hair tool, crevice tool, and dusting brush) also offer versatility, giving you all the tools you need to tackle dirt. harder and pet hair. as well as hard-to-reach areas. It's a pretty complete package considering the low price.

Weighing 3lbs/1,39kg, it's light enough that you can thoroughly clean your car without straining your arm, and as far as handheld vacuums go, it also looks very stylish. The model we reviewed is available in black only, though in the US you'll find similar models from Shark in a wider range of colors, with fewer tools, and a bit cheaper too.

Performance

The Shark CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus is one of the best handheld vacuums we've tested, so it's easy to see why it's so popular. Its size, shape and weight make it perfect for cleaning your car, with its range of tools to ensure it's always best suited for the task at hand.

We've found the motorized pet hair tool and crevice tool most useful for car cleaning. The crevice tool was particularly useful, as although the CH950UKT is relatively compact, its all-in-one design still means it would be difficult to get to hard-to-reach areas behind pedals or inside door bins. It's not the longest crevice tool we've used, but it's still handy for getting into tight spots.

The motorized tool is ideally sized for more extensive cleanings on carpets and upholstery, and it made quick work of both smaller and larger debris in our standard tests. It's also the perfect size for the job at hand, picking up a wider area than the crevice tool without becoming bulky or imprecise. Its single power setting meant that sometimes we had to re-scrub an area to get the finest crumbs or leftover debris, but overall the single power setting is well suited to most tasks.

Outside of our standardized tests, a more generic cleanup around my car found Shark CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus to be the best at removing more surface-level debris and couldn't completely displace older dirt, which had been more worked, especially on carpet. It also had trouble picking up my Jack Russell's limp hair on the trunk mat, but it's hard work even for more professional tools.

For what you can reasonably expect from a vacuum of this size and power, the Shark CH950UKT performs admirably, and given its handy form factor, it's easy to keep close at hand to clean up any mess before it's gone.

In terms of noise, the CH950UKT/Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus measured 88dB, which is about average for this type of vacuum, and the suction power remained fairly constant until the very end, when you could hear it start to flicker as that the battery ran out.

Take the time to wash the filter after a particularly deep cleaning, and if not then regularly, as this will help ensure the vacuum's suction stays as strong as possible. Simply remove the filter and run it under warm water, then let it dry completely before using it again.

Battery duration

The Shark CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus promises 10 minutes of battery life, but we've found the battery performs better than that and squeezed out almost 15 minutes from a single charge. You can expect it to go down a bit with the power tool attached, but we had plenty of time to get our car moving on a single charge, even with a little power to spare at the end.

Shark also appears to have been generous with its quote of four hours for a full charge, as in our tests we found it charged from zero to full in around three hours. However, you can't change the battery, so you'll need to make sure you keep it charged so it's ready when you need it.
