Eufy Lumos smart lamp review

Eufy Lumos smart lamp review Deals on Eufy Lumos smart lamps

One minute review

Anker's eufy is a well-known brand of tech peripherals like USB cables and power banks, but has also turned to smart family devices. Aside from offering some of the best robot vacuums and home surveillance cameras, Eufy has also jumped into the waters of smart lighting. The Eufy Lumos smart lamp is a basic and reliable LED lamp for people who are simply immersed in smart homes. Like most Eufy products, it can compete with the market leaders, in this case Philips Hue and LIFX, with devices that are affordable and easy to use. It has clear instructions on how to set it up, you can use Alexa or Google Home commands and routines to control it, and it doesn't require a hub to use. Other than that, it doesn't have any features that set it apart from other great smart lamps. We took a look at the Eufy Lumos White, which lacks the temperature or color settings found on other bulbs; you are limited to the brightness setting. With a maximum brightness of XNUMX lumens with a warm yellow tint, it's best suited for lighting small rooms while saving on your energy bill. Surprisingly large for a fourteen cm / five.XNUMX inch lamp, the Eufy Lumos may not fit in some lamps with a short harp, so be sure to measure yours first. Otherwise, they're responsive and reasonably accessible, with only a few minor app hiccups to worry about.

Eufy Lumos smart lamp price and availability

The Eufy Lumos smart lamp will set you back $2 for a bundle of 2 lamps, though you can find them on sale for around $1011 on sites like Amazon. Currently it is only available in the USA. For context, two white dimmable smart bulbs from Philips or TP-Link will set you back around $XNUMX at full cost. We particularly look at the Eufy Lumos White lamp (TXNUMX); Eufy also sells Eufy Lumos Tunable – qui vous permet de changer la température de l'ampoule de chaud à froid, ainsi que la luminosité – et Eufy Lumos White & Color – qui ajoute « sixteen millions d'options de couleurs » au-delà du White white. The lamps in our test have much more limited functionality, but are also more affordable. At the time of publication, Eufy's stock of its smart lamps appears to be limited. We can find Lumos White lamps for sale on certain sites, but the Tunable and Color versions have proven rather hard to come by.

Integrated

Eufy Lumos White lamps are quite generic in design, with a traditional spherical top that fits into a white base with "Eufy Lumos White" engraved on it. Other lamps may have more unique designs, like Nanoleaf Essential's rhombicosidodecahedron shape or LIFX's flat cylindrical shape, but the Eufy's seems perfectly acceptable and will probably shadow itself regardless. A more pressing concern: Most of the smart lamps we've seen are about 27 inches / XNUMX cm tall, but the Eufy Lumos lamps are XNUMX inches / XNUMX cm. If your lamp has limited lamp space, it may not fit; In fact, I had to get a new lamp to test this lamp because it really didn't fit my current lamps. Even if your lamp doesn't have a harp, the lamp can stick out of the shade, which you may not appreciate. Also keep in mind that we've only seen the Eufy Lumos for sale with an EXNUMX screw base. Anyone in need of a bayonet model should surely look elsewhere. Eufy Lumos lamps are simple to install via the EufyHome app; simply replace any existing lamp with the eufy version and go to your wifi settings menu. You will find your Eufy lamp among your nearby networks, tap on it, then return to the app and wait for it to sync. The lamp also comes with a detailed manual that describes how to connect them to Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant, and some sample features and controls to get the most out of them. Sure enough, we found that this made the installation process easy.

Performance

Boasting a peak brightness of 5 lumens at just 2700 watts, the Eufy Lumos matches the industry standard - we've seen several popular 3000W lamps from Philips, Wyze, Hive and Sengled reach XNUMXlm as well. Of course, Philips also sells a XNUMXlm white lamp, while Nanoleaf manages XNUMXlm with more or less the same power consumption. In more real terms, the Lumos at full power is extraordinarily bright. It can add decent lighting to a small bedroom; Or, turned down to a lower brightness, it can comfortably light a corner of the room. But to really brighten up a great living room, you may want to consider an option with more juice. We'll also repeat that since its unusual height could cause it to overhang a shadow, the lamp itself is more likely to be fully noticeable. At maximum brightness, it's bright enough that it won't be noticeable to your eyes if you look at it directly. This model is configured for a color temperature of XNUMXK, or 'Soft White' according to Eufy. Some people may prefer a XNUMXK setting that is more of a neutral white, or a lamp that allows you to switch between them. Personally, we really liked the warmth of the light, but we'd like to note that it depends on personal taste. Regardless of the brightness setting, the lamp has never been too hot. Touch the lamp and you will barely feel the heat escaping from it. LED bulbs rarely do this, but we appreciate that the Eufy Lumos seems to work efficiently. Eufy says the lamp will only cost you £XNUMX/year when used for three hours a day, which we hope (but can't confirm) is adequate for the sake of our energy bills.

Application

The eufyHome app lets you turn on your Eufy Lumos smart lights, even when you're not home, and adjust the brightness from 1% to XNUMX%. This change happens almost instantly after choosing the new brightness level, which is very satisfying; other lights that rely on Bluetooth usually take a few seconds. You can also assign preferred brightness settings so you can turn it on with a single click, or schedule times when the light alternates on and off every minute, supposedly to fool people into thinking you're home. They also offer Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integration, but not HomeKit, so you can set up any Alexa or Google Assistant routine you want with your new smart lamps. From time to time we notice that we were changing the brightness and nothing happened; then, after a few seconds, the brightness icon would return to the original level before we changed it. This has happened on eufyHome, Alexa, and Google Home, so you definitely have to do with the lamp itself, not the apps. This seemed to mostly happen when we changed the brightness multiple times in seconds, and never happened when we gave a voice command. We'd say this connection issue is not severe or widespread enough to prevent you from purchasing Lumos.

Should I buy the Eufy Lumos smart lamp?

Buy it if...

You want to save on your electricity bill
These 9W lamps will save you a lot of money per year. They don't use as much power as other smart lamps, and you can automate them to turn off in multiple smart home apps. You don't like waiting for your technician to answer
Some smart home devices have a serious latency issue, but the Eufy Lumos does not. As soon as your finger is done swiping or you're done with your request, the lamp will almost always respond in less than a second. You don't mind colorful lighting
Making your bedroom a moody blue or romantic scarlet can be enjoyable for a while, but for some people the novelty wears off quickly. If you don't need color options, the controls in the Eufy Lumos White app are a breeze with no hassle of settings you may not need.

Don't buy it if...

You want to play with color and temperature
For about the same price as the Eufy Lumos, you can find several great smart lamps that will let you play with all the shades of the rainbow. If you're lucky, you might find Eufy Lumos Color or Tunable White lamps in stock. It has either a bayonet socket or a small socket
Eufy only sells these lamps with a screw-in base, and we don't think the Eufy E27 to B22 converter is out there anymore. The Lumos is also bigger than most lamps and won't fit in some lamps. Other smart bulbs are sold outright with a bayonet base and are about an inch shorter. You have a home connected with Apple HomeKit
The eufy Lumos works really well with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, but it doesn't have quite the same synergy with Apple's smart home. First Serviced XNUMXst Summer XNUMX Cost - Eufy Lumos Smart Lamp: ▼
