FlexiSpot BS10 Ergonomic Office Chair With Backrest Review

FlexiSpot BS10 Ergonomic Office Chair With Backrest Review

The BS10 is their most expensive chair to date, and it ranks above Oka's BS9. Its main features include an adjustable headrest, mobile lumbar support, versatile chair controls and adjustable armrests. On paper, this ergonomic chair ticks all the boxes, although each individual is likely to have their own subjective view of each piece of furniture they sit on, especially if it's marketed as ergonomic. However, we couldn't help but bookmark it due to its high price tag. Something tells us, however, that this is done deliberately so that discounts are amplified during key sale periods (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Presidents Day, etc.). Ultimately, it's economically and logistically impossible to review the hundreds of ergonomic chairs that offer lumbar support and headrests.

Price and Availability

El BS10 cuesta € 399.99 from FlexiSpot con envío gratuito. The chair is known as the OC13 in the US and it's on sale for €379,99 at the time of writing, although you should be able to squeeze that even further using the plethora of discount codes available online. FlexiSpot operates in Canada, Dinamarca, Reino Unido, Francia, Japón, Italia, España, Filipinas y Malasia.

Design and build quality.

FlexiSpot's premium chair came in a large box and was easy to put together. I spent about 20 minutes setting it up on my own, a fraction of which reading the manual. Pay attention to the photos, not the description because, for once, it's the words that can confuse you. The hardest part was pushing the seat onto the pillar that rested on the wheelset. Some reviewers mentioned using a hammer for the nylon wheels, but we didn't need it.

This BS10 only comes in one color, gray, and its design can be described as retropunk. It's the kind of color scheme you'd associate with the Sinclair C5 or Commodore C64. FlexiSpot uses mesh fabric for most of the chair (back and seat), a light and breathable material that is ideal for long work sessions and comfortable even in hot weather.

head support

The adjustable headrest is flexible enough for more users, but with limited use if you don't rest your head often. We loved that it reclined.

Arm

The two armrests, which are made of what looks like ABS plastic, are decently sized and can swing out and up and down.

There are also a couple of controls that allow the user to change the settings of the chair on a granular basis. The seat can also be removed, a novelty we have seen in a chair.

Lumbar support

Used

The chair can support users weighing up to 125 kg (275 lbs); It weighs 20 lbs (44 kg) on its own, but the wheels make it very easy to move. The BS10 takes up a lot of floor space, much more than your average secretary chair. Lumbar support was also comfortable, with the added benefit of being able to move up or down about 10cm. The walnut finish on the back is a smart design addition that blends well with the overall aesthetic of the chair.

adjustable headrest

Trying out a chair presents its own challenges because there are so many different variables involved. From your height, body shape, weight, personal preferences, to the type of clothes you wear and the way you work at your table. Oh, and let's not forget existing back/neck/lower back problems.

I personally found it, as a 5ft 9in person, comfortable even for long periods of time, but a friend, standing less than 5ft away, noticed that her feet did not touch the ground when sitting on the BS10. Her back and lumbar support were firm enough without being obtrusive, and the headrest sometimes provided just the right amount of support.

wheels

I found the BS10 to be a bit noisy when moving on the wheels, but that could be due to the floor surface. One last thing; FlexiSpot offers a short one-year warranty on the chair, which is a bit disappointing. Also missing from the list of features is an integrated shelf behind the headrest for hanging a coat or bag, as well as an integrated footrest.

final verdict

The FlexiSpot BS10 is probably the best office chair I've used to date, but then again, I've probably only sat in 10 of these in my entire life. Among the hundreds, even thousands of models available. FlexiSpot's flagship ticks all the boxes: it's well designed, easy to assemble, and excellent in terms of functionality and ergonomics.

We still think its price is too high for what is essentially a glorified office chair that costs as much as a standing desk. Expect FlexiSpot to do deep discounts on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and that's when you'd buy the BS10.
