One minute review

Eufy by Anker isn't a name that automatically comes to mind when you think of the floor care market, but the brand has been churning out some of the best robotic vacuums since 2016. Its latest release, the Eufy RoboVac G20, fills the gap. empty. between its entry-level Eufy RoboVac 11S and the company's mid-level line of robovacs G, which use a logical path in a random path to clean floors, ensuring dust and dander from carpets and floors hard drives is faster than using 11S.

The Eufy RoboVac G20 has the same circular design as the brand's other robot vacuums and stands just 2,86 inches / 7,56 cm tall. Therefore, cleaning under furniture with little free space is very easy for this robot vacuum cleaner. For $60/$70 more than the 11S, the RoboVac G20 offers almost double the suction power, and in testing it was found to be adept at picking up fine dust and debris from hard floors and carpets.

This vacuum also benefits from Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing it to be controlled via an app, including setting a time to start cleaning. The G20 offers three levels of suction power, which you can manually select from the app. You can also opt for the BoostIQ feature, where the device will automatically switch between Standard and Turbo power levels depending on the type of floor detected by the robot vacuum. The G20 has a 20,2 oz / 0,6 liter dust container, which is easy to empty.

The Eufy RoboVac G20 is powered by a rechargeable battery that Eufy claims will last up to 100 minutes of cleaning. It comes with a charging base, which the robot vacuum will automatically return to if the battery level drops below a certain point during cleaning. The robot will resume cleaning from where it left off once the battery level returns to 80%.

Eufy's G20 is best suited for those looking for an efficient robot vacuum on a budget, or those with smaller households due to the shorter-than-average battery life.

Price and availability Eufy RoboVac G20

The Eufy RoboVac G20 costs €279,99/€259,99, making it €60/€70 more expensive than the Eufy 11S. It is available directly from Eufy or through Amazon. The model will not launch in Australia until April 2022.

This model is also available in a version that can clean hard floors and vacuum them. The Eufy RoboVac G20 Hybrid is priced at $319.99 / £299.99 / AU$599.

Integrated

In line with the rest of Eufy's line of robot vacuums, the G20 is a circular robovac, with a plastic bumper on the top half of the device. It measures 12,8 x 12,8 x 2,85 inches / 32,5 x 32,5 x 7,2 cm (H x W x D), and thanks to its slim design, we had no problem navigating under furniture. with little free space.

Its glossy black top surface with blue accents is scratch resistant and houses a power button that glows orange when the robot vacuum is charging. Above is a Wi-Fi icon that lights up blue when the vacuum is connected to the Internet to control the app. The robot vacuum cleaner comes with a compact charging base measuring 6,53 x 6 x 3,14 inches / 16,6 x 15,3 x 8 cm, as well as a power adapter and a cleaning tool to remove dust. hair and other objects that could become entangled around the brush bar.

At the bottom of the G20 you'll find two wheels and a caster wheel, which help the robot vacuum move around your house, as well as a brush bar. Plus, there's room to attach an optional side brush that comes with the vacuum to clean the edges and crevices of a room.

The RoboVac G20 has 13 sensors, including a gyroscope. This allows the device to methodically navigate your home when cleaning, to avoid sinking at the bottom of a flight of stairs.

There are four suction levels: quiet, standard, turbo and maximum, and there's a handy BoostIQ feature that automatically switches between standard and turbo modes when the robot vacuum detects a carpet. The dust box has a 20,2 oz / 0,6 liter capacity, and while there are no boundary strips on the box to create no-go areas for the robot vacuum, these are available directly from Eufy.

Performance

In the test, the Eufy RoboVac G20 impressed with its suction power on carpets and hard floors. It picked up fine dust, cookie crumbs, and large debris, including cereal, with ease, even on the lowest power setting. However, we found that on hard floors, the side brush tended to spread large debris further into the room, making the vacuuming process a bit longer than expected.

The inclusion of a gyroscope allowed the G20 to follow a more methodical route around our house when vacuuming, compared to the random walk of 11/20, for example. So when it comes to Eufy's budget robovacs, the G30 is definitely one of the fastest for cleaning. However, with a reduced number of sensors compared to the Eufy RoboVac GXNUMX Hybrid, for example, we found this robot vacuum hits a lot of furniture, even when positioned at the edges of a room.

We also recommend keeping the charging dock with the robot vacuum if you're moving between floors in your home, as our experience is that the G20 had trouble moving across a floor without it.

The G20 is pleasantly quiet when used at its lowest suction: our decibel meter measured 55 dB when cleaning hard floors, reaching 65 dB at Max. This is similar to the noise level experienced when standing 100 feet from an air conditioning unit, and is an acceptable level in our opinion.

We found the dust bin to be relatively easy to empty. When you slide the front of the vacuum, be sure to keep it upright, not tilted up, to prevent dust from being blown out the opening onto clean floors.

Application

The RoboVac G20 uses the same Eufy Home app as the brand's other robot vacuums. It is a clear and user-friendly app, which makes the robot vacuum cleaner easy to control. Once you've connected the robot vacuum to your home Wi-Fi network, you can start or stop a clean from the app, as well as adjust the suction level, enable spot cleaning mode, and even adjust the robot vacuum by playing a game. cheerful melody so you can find it.

Through the app, you can even set a cleaning schedule for each day of the week at a certain time. However, the robot vacuum won't map your home in any way while cleaning, so you can't set it to vacuum specific rooms or areas, nor will you be able to see its progress in the app.

The G20 is also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can use your voice instead of the app to start the robot vacuum during a cleaning session.

Battery duration

Eufy says the G20 has a maximum runtime of 100 minutes, though that's at its lowest power setting. When used on full power settings, battery life drops to 45 minutes. We found that a full charge was enough to completely clean a two-story, three-bedroom home. We were impressed that when the battery got too low for the robot vacuum to continue cleaning, it would automatically return to the base station to recharge. A full charge takes about five hours.

Once battery life has returned to 80%, the G20 will continue cleaning, starting right where it left off. However, it's disappointing to see that the battery level isn't displayed as a percentage in the app; instead, it is a difficult graph to evaluate.
