Redmi 9 Prime: what we already know

It's been a while since Xiaomi launched a 'Prime' phone in India, the last being the Redmi 3S Prime launched in 2016. Now the new Redmi 9 Prime will be the torchbearer of Prime's legacy in the future. While not much is known about the upcoming smartphone, some recent teasers suggest that the phone may come with a teardrop notch, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone can be sold exclusively on Amazon India during the upcoming Prime Day sale. In terms of design, the Redmi 9 Prime is rumored to be a modified version of the Redmi 9A or the recently launched Redmi 9C in China. However, we cannot rule out slight modifications to fit the new market the phone is entering. For those who are unaware of the recent launches, the two Chinese variants of Redmi 9 have similar specifications. They have a 6.53-inch display that offers HD+ resolution and are powered by a Helio G35 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The only big difference between the Redmi 9A and the Redmi 9C is in their camera setup. While the Redmi 9A has a single 13-megapixel sensor on the back and a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front, the Redmi 9C has a triple rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor, a macro sensor. 2-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Up front, like its sibling, the Redmi 9C also has a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
