Developer Hitman IO Interactive's next James Bond game will not be based on any of the actors who have already played 007, according to the studio head. Working under the title Project 007, the game would be IO Interactive's next big release after the release of Hitman 3, and will tell a "completely original" Bond story centering on the origins of the iconic character. Speaking to the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Hakan Abrak, the developer's studio head, described how his team "had been allowed to do their own digital Bond, which won't rely on a Bond actor." In the past, almost every game Bond films relied on the image of an actor on the big screen as a marketing tool and as a way of grounding their stories in cinematic authenticity. In some cases, the 007 games have replaced one actor with another to reimagine their stories for the modern age. GoldenEye 007, one of the most iconic games in first-person shooter history, has been remastered for the Nintendo Wii with Daniel Craig's Bond replacing Pierce Brosnan. Abrak went on to confirm the originality of the studio's version of Bond and even suggested that it might be the first in a series of Bond games. "We also put together a completely original story, and one could easily imagine a trilogy could come out of it," Abrak said. IO's confirmation that he's not inspired by any of the Bond movie counterparts, and previous confirmation that Project 007 will serve as the character's origin story, suggests that players could take control of him. 'A much younger 007 than fans might be used to. .
