Primer launches open application framework for payments

UK fintech Primer launched Primer Connect, its open application framework design, which was developed to make the eCommerce checkout process for merchants easier and more efficient. The new framework will allow third-party payment services to integrate more efficiently with Primer's unified payment APIs. Primer Connect will offer simplicity to merchants as it is accessible through a single integration and dashboard. Primer's automated checkout engine works just like Zapier for web apps. It allows merchants to quickly add payment service providers (PSPs) to connect their payments and payment flows with payment-related services, without requiring additional development. The ``low-code'' approach developed by Primer enables business owners to be able to record payment information, streamline recurring payments, and more easily adapt to the ever-changing e-commerce marketplace. Users also benefit from anti-fraud measures and optimized performance of their payment processes.

While it's still a work in progress, groups like Klarna, Mollie, Worldline, Truelayer, GoCardless, Sift, Laybuy, Bridge, Banked, and Fonoa have already signed on. Primer says the partners still retain control of the integration by comparing the arrangement to third-party apps on Apple's App Store. Founded by former PayPal employees Paul Anthony and Gabriel Le Roux early last year, Primer has so far raised £17,8m in funding and has 40 employees in 15 countries. "With Primer Connect, we're enabling payment-related services to dramatically reduce time to service, increase delivery, and ensure customers maintain top-tier, up-to-date technical integrations," said Paul Anthony, Co-Founder and Director of Product and Engineering at First. “Primer is a completely standalone and uncompromising payment integration. By opening up our framework, we ensure that merchants can access the best products and services from their checkout line at all times.” Gone are the days of compromising the user experience and managing increasingly complex APIs and integrations and interdependent Merchants can now focus solely on creating the best possible checkout experience for themselves Service providers, BI tools and accounting providers, and many more are on the way Primer Connect is in closed beta, but is expected to the package will be rolled out more widely to developers in the second quarter of this year.
