Overwatch 2 beta removes Wrecking Ball due to game-breaking bug

Wrecking Ball was disabled in the Overwatch 2 beta due to a bug that allowed all other players to be kicked from the game.

Sometimes Overwatch games are frustrating, from your team not working together to the other team being full of high ranking players. Sometimes you just want a quick server reset and player reshuffle. Well, briefly, Wrecking Ball had that power.

The exploit appeared in the Overwatch 2 beta and gave the tank hero the ability to kick all other players out of a match. And it was surprisingly easy to activate. All you had to do was look directly at the ground and use Wrecking Ball's grappling hook. This would send all of your teammates and enemies off the server, leaving you alone.

You can see it in action, as demonstrated by streamer Mathew 'Super' Delisi. After he worked out, he vowed never to do it again, supposedly to stay out of trouble.

Fortunately, this feat did not last long. Blizzard stepped in and removed Wrecking Ball from Overwatch 2 for now. The official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted:

Wrecking Ball's powers are too strong on the beta server.

(*2*)When will Wrecking Ball return in the Overwatch 2 beta?

It's unclear when or if Wrecking Ball will be reinstated before the Overwatch 2 beta ends on May 17 – and, interestingly, if it will be available to Overwatch League players when the competition begins on May 5. mayo.

For now, the damage seems minimal, as the beta doesn't have a competitive mode and players exploiting it only do so in the equivalent of Quick Play. Still, getting kicked out of a game is annoying, especially if you've been waiting awhile in longer queues trying to tank or damage roles.

Of course, bugs like this are to be expected due to Overwatch 2's beta status and an expanded PvE mode, but that also extends to the game's level of tuning.

This is unlikely to be the only major bug found during this beta, and we can expect to see more bugs as future betas are released. Hopefully finding these exploits now will make launching Overwatch 2, whenever it does, a smooth experience.
