Ignore Apple AirPower: Xiaomi just introduced a version that really works

Apple introduced AirPower, its charging dock that lets you power up multiple devices at once, back in 2017, but after two years of not showing up anywhere, Apple officially canceled it in early 2019. However, it seems another company has sorted out the problems Apple had: Xiaomi has just introduced its Smart Tracking Charging Pad, which allows you to charge up to two devices wirelessly at the same time and place them anywhere on the pad to do so. So, for example, you can boost your headphones and watch before a run, or you and your friends' smartphones simultaneously.

Most other chargers won't power your phone properly if it's not placed in the perfect position, so Xiaomi seems to be solving a common wireless charging problem. Rumors suggest that Apple's AirPower crashed because the company couldn't get Apple Watch charging to work properly, though others say it's because the AirPower cushion overheated and Apple couldn't find a way around it. The company has not officially commented on the rumors and probably never will. It is clear that some companies have found a way to avoid these problems, Xiaomi and some other small brands that offer alternatives. These usually don't allow you to place your device where you want it on the pad, so Xiaomi has an advantage. The smart tracking charging pad was unveiled along with some other products like Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, Redmi K30, and Mi TV Lux, at a Chinese event. So, we don't know for sure if or when the charger will hit global markets, but since the company sells similar products in various countries, it could hit a lot of places in no time.
