Oppo Find X3: what we want to see

Oppo Find X3: what we want to see
Oppo is one of the biggest Chinese phone companies, and its Find X line is its best deal. There are two generations of phones so far, so the third, Find X3, is the next one we expect to see. The original Oppo Find X from 2018 had a premium design with a new pop-out back panel so the screen didn't break at all for the front camera. It had the best specs overall, but the Lamborghini Edition took it to 11. Other phones to expect soon The Oppo Find X2 line, launched in early 2020, started with two phones, the 'standard' and Find X2 Pro, but two more were released a bit later, Find X2 Lite and Find X2 Neo, bringing the total number to four. It's a slightly different approach for each series, but it does get us thinking about what the next device, the Oppo Find X3, might be and how many devices are in its lineup. We don't even know when the phone will appear as it is not a series updated every year. When the rumors and leaks for the Oppo Find X3 start, we will update this article with all of them, so if you are interested in the phone dialer, please bookmark this page and check back from time to time. Before that though, we put together a wish list of Oppo Find X3 features we'd like to see.

Come to the point

Oppo Find X3 release date and price

Most of the smartphone series receive yearly releases; this wasn't the case for the first two generations of Oppo Find, with the first launching in mid-2020 and the second around two years later, so there's no guarantee when we'll see the Oppo Find X3. If we were to be optimistic, we would suggest seeing the phone in mid-2021, but if the model of others is to be repeated, the Find X3 will launch in 2022. That said, Oppo seems to have placed more emphasis on the Find X2 line. , with four devices instead of one, so you might want to bring it back sooner. We don't have a great idea of price either. Pricing for the Find X2 line ranges from €399 / AU$749 (around £530) for the Find X2 Lite to €1,099 / AU$1,599 (around £1,450) for the Find X2 Pro, meaning for different range phones. , we could see very different costs.

Leaks, rumors and news

We haven't heard of any specific leaks, news or rumors about the Oppo Find X3, but we did see some company patents and some technology that has been confirmed to work, and we may see some of that. this is coming to Find X3. . The Oppo Find X2 Pro had a periscope zoom lens first seen on the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, which facilitated the phone's 5x optical, 10x hybrid, and 60x digital zoom. Well, it seems that Oppo is working on an improved version of this lens, which would bring more optical zoom and a better aperture. The company is also reportedly working on a special high-resolution sensor to pair with this lens. Oppo showed off 125W fast charging coming to phones soon. This would power a phone with a 4000 mAh battery (medium size) in less than 25 minutes. At the same time, the company introduced 65W wireless charging that matches its current wired speeds. Oppo also recently patented a Li-Fi smartphone that uses light to create high-speed connection speeds, but it seems a bit futuristic for the Find X3.

What we want to see in the Oppo Find X3

1. Wireless charging

We had a common complaint with all the Oppo Find X2 smartphones we tested: none of them have wireless charging. That's understandable at budget entries in the range, but given the Pro's price, I'd expect it. Oppo has shown off its 65W wireless charging since the launch of the Find X2, so we'd like to see this on phones if possible, but if the company chooses to go with slower wireless power speeds for its mid-range phones , that would also make sense. Wireless charging is really useful for people who have such chargers, and as the Find X2 phones are a quality product, we'd like to see this addition.

2. Improved cameras on non-Pro units

While the Oppo Find X2 Pro was a real beast of a camera, the other phones in the lineup were more 'good not great', with some lenses and sensors one would expect at the missing price. We'd like all Find X3 phones to have wide-angle and telephoto lenses, both for zooming and wide shots. Depth-sensing and macro cameras aren't always very useful, and they're not a substitute for zoom. Of course, Oppo's post-processing image optimization is the true champion for making your images look great on the Pro, but we'd love to see the company's zoom technology show up on more devices.

3. Lowest maximum price

While the Oppo Find X2 line offered affordable devices like the Lite, if you wanted a real high-end phone, you were spending an astronomical amount. In fact, some might say it's too expensive for the phone. The Oppo Find X2 Pro is very similar to the OnePlus 8 Pro in many ways, and while it's arguably advanced in one or two areas (such as its zoom camera or screen optimization tech), it's a lot more expensive too. If Oppo wanted its Find X3 devices to be truly competitive against its rivals, especially OnePlus, the Pro model would have to come out with a slightly lower price.

4. Synthetic leather on more phones

You can buy the Oppo Find X2 Pro with a leatherette lining, which makes the phone incredibly premium (and easier to grip without falling). We'd love to see all phones in general use this hardware, but this article is only for the Oppo Find X3, so we'd like to see these phones bring the hardware back. In fact, while only the Find X2 Pro can be built into the hardware, we'd love to see more Find X3 phones with it, perhaps even the Lite model, though that would drive the price up a bit. This wish list item may contradict another: It's harder to get wireless charging on a smartphone if it's clad in vegan leather. But the point of a Wish List is to create a dream lineup with all the specs and features we'd love to see, so let's ignore the possible impossibility of that.

5. Another affordable 5G phone

We'll end this list by saying that we want Oppo to repeat what it did in the Find X2 series, launching a super-affordable 5G phone in the form of the Find X2 Lite. This phone puts 5G in the hands of people who want it, but are put off by the fact that most 5G phones are premium devices. You no longer have to spend a lot to get 5G connectivity. We'd love to see the same happen to the Find X3 series, to keep the cheap 5G phone going.
