Oppo confirms that it is preparing its first smartwatch

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is expected to join the list of companies that also make devices for your wrist because it has confirmed that it was working on its first smartwatch.

The company's vice president, Shen Yiren, confirmed the Oppo smartwatch on a Chinese social media website, the Weibo, where they provided some additional details about the future device.

Its release is scheduled for 2020, but Yiren has not revealed whether the product would be available worldwide. Maybe the watch will arrive in China first and we will have to wait a little longer to see it in other markets, if it is there.

Yiren's message on Weibo also confirmed that Oppppo would opt for a square display on their first smartwatch, which we haven't seen many manufacturers opt for Apple with Apple Watch.

The reasoning for square seems to be to display more information on the screen at the same time.

We don't know much else about the new Oppo smartwatch. The message does not confirm whether it will come with Oppo's own software or whether it will adopt the Wear OS platform, as many other Android manufacturers do.

The Post also highlighted the fact that the company is working on a pair of Oppo-branded noise-canceling headphones, and we expect it to launch in late 2019.
