PeopleFinders Reviews | The comparison

Based in Sacramento, California, PeopleFinders is a simple online tool to learn more about someone using 43 billion public records. PeopleFinders has been doing this for decades, since 1999, and has access to approximately 6.000 databases of information.

This people search engine crawls public databases to help you identify a person based solely on their name, phone number, email, or address. You can purchase a single report or get unlimited access to do as much research as you want.

Packages and prices

PeopleFinders offers several different pricing options. For a single person, there are two reports: a search report that includes basic contact information, and a background report that includes criminal, real estate, and court records.

An investigative report for a single person costs €1,95, while a substantial report costs €9,95. You can also access unlimited reports with a monthly subscription. PeopleFinders charges €24.95 per month for unlimited research reports that include "available data such as contact information, aliases, relatives, and known associates." The monthly fee for unlimited background reports is a modest increase to €29.95 that covers all the information in the lower plan, with the addition of property, assets, businesses, criminal records, bankruptcies, liens, judgments and more”, for a more set of complete data.

No annual subscription reduction is offered.

Features

PeopleFinders offers several ways to find someone. Of course, most people search engines ask you to search for a name or address as a starting point. Some also allow you to base the search on a phone number, better known as a reverse phone lookup. However, we were surprised to see not only the three methods mentioned above, but also an email-based fourth. For name searches with multiple potential matches, PeopleFinders presents a list of possible results along with age and known family members to help you narrow down your search. This is essential, as many similar search tools present you with a paywall before you even know if there are any results for your search.

The reports generated by PeopleFinders provide a broad overview of an individual. Get your name, address history, phone numbers, and family members with a search report. If you purchase a background report, you'll also get court and arrest records, property and bankruptcy records, and a check from the National Sex Offender Registry. Notably, PeopleFinders does not include email addresses or social media IDs in its report, nor does it provide information on whether a person has a firearm or a gun license.

It is important to note that all data used by PeopleFinders is obtained from public databases. The main advantage of paying for a report over running your own research is that PeopleFinders pulls data from a variety of sources easily and efficiently in just a few minutes.

Interface and in use

Using PeopleFinders is quick and easy. You can select what type of search you want to run on the platform's website and then simply enter the information you have. A database lookup typically takes less than a minute for a reverse phone lookup, but it can take several minutes if you're looking for a common name in a populated city. Fortunately, the service has an advanced search feature that allows you to further narrow down name searches by adding a middle name and age range.

We were also happy to learn that PeopleFinders at least gives you a preview of the information included in your report about a person before you pay for it. The service indicates whether the person's current address, phone number, and basic information are available, which may influence whether you want to proceed with your purchase.

The PeopleFinders mobile app for iOS and Android will automatically perform a reverse phone lookup on unknown numbers that call your phone (Image credit: PeopleFinders)

PeopleFinders also offers mobile apps for iOS and Android, although the name of each app is not PeopleFinders, but rather IdentityWatch. This can make it a bit difficult to find the app in each store, but the link at the bottom of the PeopleFinders home page is pretty straightforward. Both apps are highly rated with just over 4 out of 5 stars.

Each version of the app includes a surprising number of features that are not available through the web interface. For example, the PeopleFinders app will automatically parse incoming phone numbers and run a quick reverse lookup on them. If the phone number matches PeopleFinders' exclusive spam call list, it will automatically block the call for you. The mobile apps also offer report sharing, which is not available through the PeopleFinders web interface.

Support

You can contact the PeopleFinders support team by phone and mail. Support is available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. M. To 7:00 p.m. M. Pacific Monday through Friday and 3:30 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. M. To XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. M. Saturdays and Sundays. We couldn't find a support portal, direct email, or way to chat.

The company's website also has a helpful knowledge base that answers the most basic billing and interface questions. In a handful of articles, there are troubleshooting FAQs covering "I forgot my login information," "Has someone notified I'm looking for it," and "What's included in membership? No forum, getting started guides no video presentations, so more advanced help options are missing.

Security

PeopleFinders uses standard SSL encryption to protect your account information and searches. When you search for someone with this tool, there is no way for the person you have searched to know that you have generated a report.

If you wish, you can disable PeopleFinders so that your information does not appear in searches. You will need to do a search yourself and copy the page URL of your report to request removal of the site.

Competition

PeopleFinders competes directly with several Intelius-owned people search tools, including US Search, Instant Checkmate, and BeenVerified. One of the great advantages of PeopleFinders over these services is that it allows you to purchase a single report, while the others require you to purchase a monthly subscription. We also prefer the PeopleFinders mobile apps because they make it easy to share reports and automatically look up any unknown numbers that call your phone for an extra spam alert.

Final verdict

PeopleFinders is an easy-to-use and reasonably priced tool to find a long-lost friend, filter new acquaintances, or check who's calling. We liked the ability for low-volume users to purchase individual reports instead of getting an unlimited subscription. The great thing about the monthly subscription is that it comes with the PeopleFinders mobile apps, which offer automatic reverse phone lookup and spam blocking when an unknown number calls your phone.
