OnePlus Z spotted on Geekbech; imminent launch

OnePlus, which recently launched the OnePlus 8 series as part of a gradual transition to the high-end smartphone segment, seems to be shifting towards affordable phones. Rumors of a OnePlus Z have been around for a while now. And today, the device appeared on Geekbench. The new device, with the product name OnePlus AC2003, was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking site. The specifications listed on the site suggest that this yet-to-be-launched device could be the OnePlus Z, the phoenix we all eagerly await rising from the ashes. This benchmark score that was published on Geekbench yesterday suggests that this phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, has 12GB of RAM, and runs on Android 10. The report shows that the device was able to get a single-core score of 612 and a multi-core score of 1955. Also, the motherboard of this upcoming smartphone is listed as "Lito". Although there is not much information about this chipset, the folks at MySmartPrice have reported that it could be a Snapdragon 765G, a gaming avatar or an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 765 SoC and it may come with a built-in 5G - X52 modem. Rumors of OPPO Reno 4 benchmark scores with identical specifications are almost similar to the mysterious OnePlus device. Since this new OnePlus smartphone has 12 GB of RAM, it could be the top-end device in this new category, while the inferior device can be delivered with 8 GB of RAM and various variants depending on the amount of onboard storage. We previously reported that OnePlus CEO Pete Lau spoke of the need to add "new members" to the family during an interview. Followed by this now disclosed benchmark score. They're all alluding to the imminent launch of a cheap OnePlus device. Several reports suggest that OnePlus could launch a new phone in July and since we don't have any more information at the moment, all we can do at the moment is watch and watch. Via: NDTV
