OnePlus watch may not work with Wear OS

After years of rumors, we're expecting the OnePlus Watch to appear in the not too distant future, but according to a well-placed insider, it won't be running Google Wear OS software when it arrives. Max Jambor, who has been right in the past with advanced information about OnePlus, took to Twitter to reveal that the next phone will not be a Wear OS device, as expected given the partnership with OnePlus and Google on Android. Of course, it's not official yet, but it would be an interesting change from OnePlus and a blow to Google. There are some decent Wear OS watches out there, but there's definitely plenty of room for more. We assume that OnePlus will develop its own custom software for the OnePlus Watch, in the same way that other manufacturers such as Samsung, Garmin and Fitbit have done so far.

We originally expected to see the OnePlus Watch in October, but that release date has been pushed back - production or software issues may have been to blame, which wouldn't come as a surprise given the global pandemic. in progress. It's been a busy year for OnePlus, with the OnePlus 8T just one of many phones the manufacturer has promoted this year. If working on the laptop was left in the background for a while, that would be perfectly understandable. Other rumors suggest a round screen for the next laptop, so think more of a Samsung Galaxy Watch than an Apple Watch. At the moment, the market is fairly evenly split between round and rectangular designs. OnePlus itself hasn't confirmed that it has a smartwatch on the way, although this tweet seems to suggest that it does. If a OnePlus-branded laptop arrives with the company's smartphones and TVs, we'll let you know.
