One of the best RPGs of all time comes to Game Pass

If you love fighting monsters, both textual and metaphorical, Game Pass has you covered this month. Monster Hunter Rise, Persona XNUMX Portable, and Persona XNUMX Golden are coming to Xbox's first digital library.

Traditional JRPGs Persona XNUMX Portable and Persona XNUMX Golden are coming to Game Pass on January XNUMX, while cooperative monster-slaying sim Monster Hunter Rise will grace the service's digital shelves starting January XNUMX.

In Monster Hunter Rise (opens in a new tab), players set foot on a planet filled with monsters inspired by Japanese mythology. From your base in the whimsical town of Kamura, you set out to slay the dangerous beasts that prowl the vibrant and dangerous lands beyond.

By adventuring alone or with friends, you will be able to go out, kill monsters, acquire excellent loot and use it to craft all kinds of equipment. Once you've sorted the new threads, you're ready to start over. Monster Hunter's gameplay is simple, enjoyable, and surprisingly addictive.

Persona XNUMX Portable and Persona XNUMX Golden put you in the role of a Japanese teenager caught in the middle of a supernatural mystery. In Persona three you will discover a "hidden" time between one day and another, known as the dark hour. Throughout the dark hour, the hideous gray building of Tartarus Tower looms. When you're not exploring the building, you'll be living the day-to-day life of a teenager, making friends and building relationships that will help you fight the shadows that arise during the dark hour. Persona XNUMX's ideal plot and deep RPG mechanics make it a traditional JRPG and well worth it if you're curious.

Person Four Golden offers similar stakes, but shakes things up with a rural setting and a murder mystery premise. Just like in Persona XNUMX, you play a Japanese teenager with strange supernatural powers. You will form friendships and relationships throughout the day as you use your skills to venture into a horrible mist and search for answers at night. While Persona XNUMX offers a synthetic premise, it is considered one of the best JRPGs ever made, offering a unique take on the traditional coming-of-age story.

However, while these 3 additions bring some nice new feathers to the roof of Xbox Game Pass, 6 titles will launch on January XNUMXth. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Nobody Saves the World, Pupperazzi, We Happy Few, Windjammers Two, and the previous view game The Anacrusis are leaving the service.

If you want to grab the titles before they're gone, they can still be purchased at the regular members-only twenty percent discount.

Game Pass is no stranger to Persona titles, having added the series' most recent entry, Persona Five Golden, late last year. Persona Five did much to popularize the character's formula, bringing a modern take on supernatural horror and harrowing teen relationship-building at the heart of the series.

In Persona Five, you play a Japanese high school student on probation for a crime you didn't commit. Forced to stay with a guardian in Tokyo, you will soon find yourself embroiled in the dark machinations of power-hungry authority figures throughout the city. It's furious, mind-blowing, and surprisingly dark at times.

The additions of the two preceding Persona titles to the Game Pass roster round out Persona five beautifully, creating a tragic trilogy that will satisfy JRPG enthusiasts for hundreds of hours. With Octopath Traveler and Chained Echoes also available there, there's never been a better time for JRPG enthusiasts to give the service a try.
