Office and Microsoft Teams are getting even closer

Use of the Microsoft Teams apps will soon be possible on Office.com and the Office app for Windows, as the company looks to further expand the reach of its video conferencing service.

A new entry in the Microsoft 365 roadmap indicates that users will soon be able to add apps designed for Microsoft Teams on both Office platforms.

This should help improve the user experience for Teams customers around the world, meaning you no longer need to switch platforms to use specific apps.

The roadmap entry shows how the feature could be a key selling point for many Office users who are frustrated with today's process of constant change.

"Users will be able to purchase and use these updated Teams apps (with personal tabs) without leaving Office.com and the Office app for Windows," the entry states.

Microsoft Teams has a wide variety of apps for users looking to enrich their collaboration and video calling experience, with options like task management, polls, and even mindfulness and good behavior tools available.

The update is now available as a preview for select Microsoft Insiders as the company looks to test the software and fix any issues. A broader global release is currently planned for December 2022 for all Office desktop and web users worldwide.

Microsoft Teams has benefited from an ongoing program of updates and upgrades in recent months as the company looks to ensure its platform stays at the top of its game.

More recently, this includes the ability to control calls using Bluetooth devices, merge business and work accounts, and access screen sharing controls across clients.

Microsoft Teams continues to go from strength to strength, with the company's latest figures showing the service now has more than 270 million monthly active users (MAUs).

Recent data compiled by software company StarLeaf revealed that nearly all businesses (97%) say tools like Zoom, Webex, and Teams are now essential to their operations.

Over half (57%) of 2000 UK respondents say their business would not be able to function for more than an hour without access to their communication tools, while 27% admitted they would struggle to function for even 30 minutes .
