Nick Fury will appear in many Marvel movies after Secret Invasion

Samuel L. Jackson has revealed that Nick Fury will appear in multiple Marvel movies after his starring role in Secret Invasion.

Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (thanks acomingsoon.net for the announcement), Jackson confirmed that the former SHIELD director is going to guest star on The Marvels, like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, in XNUMX. .

Jackson's Fury will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Secret Invasion, one of Marvel Studios' XNUMX Disney Plus offerings. But, since Fury has appeared in numerous Marvel movies, it was only a matter of time before he returned to the big screen.

The last time we saw Fury, he was enjoying a "vacation" on a Skrull spaceship in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now, however, we know we're going to see him appear in 3 Marvel Phase XNUMX projects over the next twelve months.

Speaking initially about his time in the MCU, Jackson said: "Well, well you know, it's kind of weird when someone tells you they're going to give you a 9-film deal. You know, you wonder 'How long am I going to be around for? stay alive to take 9 pictures?' Well, it took time to make one movie. It always does, but people do two or 3 at a time. In the Marvel cosmos...it's just nonsense.

"When I was in London before, he came and went, and we were preparing to do Jackson added moments later. "So it was like 3 Marvel movies in one release. I was like running from one place to another.

Secret Invasion is one of 4 MCU TV shows coming to Disney Plus before the end of the year. Moon Knight will lead the way come March XNUMXth, followed by Ms. Marvel (June XNUMXth) and She-Hulk (release date TBC).

Analysis: Why will Nick Fury appear in Ant-Man XNUMX?

Nick Fury's likely appearance in The Marvels isn't going to be a huge surprise. The creator of The Avengers was a supporting character in XNUMX's Captain Marvel, which starred Brie Larson as the titular heroine. With The Marvels lined up as a sequel to this superhero movie, it would be a strange move if Fury didn't show up in the follow-up movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, however, initially doesn't seem like a movie Fury would fit into. He never met Ant-Man or the Wasp. He also wasn't there for Avengers: Endgame to see how they used time travel to reverse the effects of the Blip, since Fury was one of Thanos's missing. And, barring Marvels plot tie-in with Ant-Man XNUMX, he may not quite understand that a time-traveling villain, aka Kang the Conqueror, is about to transform into the MCU's next big bad. Fury isn't as well connected as he used to be, so he's not going to be able to keep up with each and every heartless situation that has come and gone (or is about to happen) on Earth recently. .

Still, we'd expect a man like Fury to get more than passing interest if a new essential opponent shows up and threatens to upend the status quo. He created the Avengers Initiative for one reason: to protect Earth from any and all threats. If Kang presents a clear and present risk to life on our planet, you can bet Fury will play a major role in defending Earth from any kind of supervillain.

Marvel will likely be disappointed to learn that Jackson has confirmed his character's involvement in both movies. It's Samuel L Jackson, however, he probably doesn't care much (if he cares at all) about screwing up Fury's site.

Nor is he the only one. Bill Murray, who will play a role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has already hinted that he will play a villain in the trio. However, Jonathan Majors, who played one of Kang's alterations in Loki's season 1 finale, will accept the primary villain roles as Kang in Ant-Man XNUMX.
