New Xbox Series X Features and Specifications Revealed in Official Announcement

Microsoft just released a lot of new information about the Xbox Series X, not only doubling down on backwards compatibility, but also introducing a new system called "Smart Delivery" that could, in a way, be considered backwards compatibility. With Xbox Series X, Smart Delivery will apparently ensure that you have the correct version of a game, no matter which Xbox you purchased it on. So, for example, if you were to buy a multi-gen game on Xbox One, you'll have a bloated version waiting for you as soon as you fire up the more powerful Xbox Series X. Microsoft's own titles will offer this by default, but it's a feature that will be optional for external developers and publishers. Backwards compatibility will also benefit from more powerful hardware: you'll get faster load times, higher resolutions, and improved visual fidelity from all games supported on all three generations of existing Xbox hardware when you play them on Xbox Series X. Xbox Game Pass's generous all-you-can-use library subscription service will continue on the next-gen machine, and Halo Infinite will be available on Xbox Game Pass as soon as the game launches. This is a developing story - check back soon for more details as we receive them.
