Nvidia's new shield: not one, but two models seem to arrive

This Nvidia Shield TV on your shelf, had it been too long? Well, it seems like you have two separate options to update your hardware soon, or to argue for first-time use of the Shield TV platform.

Although speculation about a possible upgrade, mainly to update the device's processor, revolves around a few months, it has now been shown that a totally different model still favors streaming without a TV tuner or USB port.

A breakdown of the code in the latest Shield Experience 8.0 update, the Shield TV operating system, shows the files that refer to a separate "sif" template with the above changes, while the file name "sif" also reappears in the Nvidia Shield settings. application (via XDA-Dvelopers).

It seems to come with the new updated Tegra X1 processor from the main model, also present in the incoming Nintendo Switch Lite.

What is that Google Stadia?

Nvidia Shield TV is Android's premier streaming box since its launch in 2015, incorporating a brilliant Tegra X1 processor for television, 4K video resolution, HDR, and streaming or download games.

We attended a small update in 2017, thinning the silhouette of the console and dropping the micro SD port, and after two more years on the market, it makes sense to update some internals of the device, possibly with a new remote control and a joystick.

The November launch of Google Stadia, the video game streaming service on Xbox Games Pass and PlayStation Now, is even more profitable.

Sony and Microsoft are considering the future of streaming games as the latter has already released the Xbox One All Digital Diskless Edition. But with the current Shield TV model costing just € 199 / € 189/245 AUP, roughly half of a brand-new Xbox One, a compelling argument could justify streaming tomorrow's games on an Nvidia Shield TV.
