Netflix's First Wednesday Clip Has an Unexpected Captain America Reference

Netflix has unveiled the first extended clip from its upcoming television series Wednesday Addams.

The 90-second clip, which was released as part of Netflix's Tudum 2022 global fan event, gives us a look at the moody yet humorous aesthetic and tone of the Netflix show. Oh, and it also has an unexpected Marvel reference that Captain America would be proud of.

Check out the first clip of the Netflix series Wednesday Addams below:

Did you cover Cap's iconic "I could do this all day" quote? We'd be surprised if you didn't.

Either way, as you may have seen in the clip, Wednesday Addams is not in love with her parents wherever she is right now. And things don't get much rosier for the Addams family's teenage daughter, either, with Morticia and Gomez Addams sending the Thing, an anthropomorphic human hand that she can't speak, to spy on her.

Unsurprisingly, Wednesday Macabre aims to lock the Thing up so he can't go back to his parents and tell them what he's up to, which is that he plans to escape from wherever he is. However, Wednesday decides to give the Thing a choice: swear allegiance to him and she can remain free of it. Naturally, given the alternative, it doesn't take long for Thing to agree to these terms.

Tudum's exclusive clip comes a month (and a day!) after the first official trailer for Wednesday Addams was released. This sneak peek gave us a much better idea of the comedy-horror vibe that Netflix's live-action series is going for, but this new clip offers a better look at how Jenna Ortega will play the role of Wednesday in the character's first standalone story. . .

The new video also comes 24 hours after Wednesday's TV show was given an official release date: November 23, which is, unsurprisingly, a Wednesday. The spooky season will be over by then, but it will still be an exciting post-Halloween watch.
