Mozilla has launched a subscription page offering ad-free information on Firefox for a monthly fee of €4.99 (about €4, AU$7), as well as another to promote a Firefox VPN for €12.99 (about €10, AU €20). The sign up buttons are models at the moment, but at least one of the services appears to be real. According to ZDNet, by clicking the sign up button for ad-free news, you can access a survey used by Mozilla to gauge your interest. Once the survey is complete, a confirmation page reveals that the proposed service is a partnership with Scroll, which works with publishers to provide ad-free content. VPN definitely seems on the cards. After some investigation, TechRadar found a similar fake subscription page, which also led to an investigation. However, if you ignore the survey, you have the option to sign up for notifications "when the Firefox Private Network beta is available", before adding that the receipt of an email can take up to three months. Mozilla has already experimented with promoting Proton's premium VPN service in Firefox, but Firefox's new private network seems to be something different. Both pages are hosted on the https://firstlook.firefox.com/ subdomain, which currently doesn't contain any other viewable content, but we'll keep an eye out for other possible premium Firefox options coming soon.
