Moto G200 release date, price, features, specs and news

The Moto G200 has been unveiled and contains the best chipset available for Android phones, along with a super high refresh rate and other jaw-dropping specs, all for an average price.

Is it too good to be true? Well, not all aspects of the Moto G200 are state of the art as you will see below.

We've broken down the phone's specs in full, along with information on when it was released, in which countries it's expected to be available, and how much it will cost.

Come to the point

Moto G200 launch date and price

The Moto G200 has already been announced and is expected to go on sale in the UK in December.

The exact date has yet to be revealed, but we know it will start at € 399.99 (around € 540 / AU € 740). This is for a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There's also a version with 256GB of storage, but we don't have a price tag for that, and it's not visible on Motorola's UK site at the time of writing, so it may not be widely. available.

The Moto G200 is not expected to land in the US or Australia; Aside from the UK, it is only confirmed for other parts of Europe and Latin America.

Design and display

The Moto G200 has a fairly conventional design, with a facade made up mostly of screens, although there is a visible bezel below the screen. It has a hole-punch camera in the top center of the screen, while on the back there is a triple-lens camera in the upper left corner.

The back is slightly curved and features Motorola's near-iconic dimple in the center, and the phone measures 168.07 x 75.53 x 8.89mm and 202g. It will be available in Stellar Blue and Glacier Green shades.

Whatever color you choose for the back and sides, it will be plastic, which is probably one of the ways Motorola has kept the price low. Another will be the lack of substantial water resistance, with only an IP52 rating offered, which might be enough to survive a very light rain, but not much else.

Screen-wise, it's a bit more impressive as it's a 1080-inch 2460 x 6.8 large LCD with a 20: 9 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate, which means scrolling and other interactions must be very smooth. That's an even higher refresh rate than flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro (both capped at 120Hz).

Some phones have such a high refresh rate, but most of them are gaming phones, although the Motorola Edge 20 also has a 144Hz refresh rate, so that's not something entirely new to us, the company.

The display also has 396 pixels per inch and DCI-P3 and HDR10 certifications, so it looks like a high-quality component.

Camera and battery

The Moto G200's camera includes a 108MP f / 1.9 main sensor, an 8MP f / 2.2 ultra-wide angle (which has a 120-degree field of view and functions as a macro lens), and a 2MP depth sensor.

The main camera uses 9-in-1 pixel binning to capture 12 MP photos by default, although we imagine you could take 108 MP photos if you prefer.

It can also shoot up to 8K quality video at 30 fps and record slow motion video at 960 fps, while on the front there is a 16MP f / 2.2 camera that can record video up to 1080p at 30 fps.

The Moto G200's battery is 5,000 mAh and the company claims it can last up to 1,5 days between charges. When you charge it, you can do it up to 33W.

Specifications and Features

One of the strengths of the Moto G200 is its chipset, as it has a Snapdragon 888 Plus. It's the best Android chipset available in 2021 and it's the one we've seen in some phones. It is even more powerful than the chipsets used in the Samsung Galaxy S21 line and the OnePlus 9 line, so it is surprising to see it in a mid-range phone.

Here it is combined with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Beyond that, the Moto G200 is 5G compliant, runs Android 11, and has a fingerprint scanner, a dedicated Google Assistant key, and Dolby Atmos audio support, though there's no headphone jack.

It's also worth noting that like the Moto G100 before it, the Moto G200 is Ready For compliant. This allows you to connect your Moto G200 to a monitor or television so that you can view content on a larger screen. This is especially useful if you want to turn your phone into a makeshift desk for work.
