Most CIOs expect IT budgets to increase next year

CIOs expect their organizations' IT budgets to grow 3,7% next year, according to a new Gartner report. In its annual global survey of CIOS and technology leaders in the EMEA region, which gathered responses from 2.387 respondents in 85 countries and across all major industries, Gartner found that the increase in the IT budget for the coming year is slightly below above the global average growth. Global IT Spending Will Increase

However, two-thirds of CIOs in the EMEA region (65%) plan to spend the most on cybersecurity and information security, as growing threats make the landscape extremely difficult. As soon as security is up to date, they will turn their attention to business intelligence and data analytics, cloud platforms (47%), as well as API architecture and corporate digital transformation initiatives (37%). Globally, IT spending is expected to remain high next year as businesses look to get back on track after the pandemic. In an independent Gartner report published in late October, global IT spending is expected to hit $4,5 trillion next year, with virtually all IT subsets growing.
