Over 6 million players fell in the Call of Duty Warzone battle on day one

Call of Duty Warzone has amassed over 6 million players in just 24 hours after it launched. The free to play cross-platform battle royale title comes from the house of Activision and is an extension of its flagship AAA title: Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019). However, you do not need to purchase the full game to access Warzone, as Warzone is a standalone installation that allows you to experience the world of Modern Warfare in battle royale style. On March 12, the Call of Duty Twitter handle revealed that they had beaten over 6 million players in the first 24 hours, which is quite an impressive feat. By comparison, Apex Legends would have collected 2.5 million players in the first 24 hours of its release.

What a day! 24 hours and over 6 million of you are in #Warzone. Thanks, we're just getting started. #FreeCallofDuty pic.twitter.com/GpDKJw5QD411 March 2020

Call of Duty Warzone: How to play

Call of Duty Warzone takes place in Verdansk with two game modes: Battle Royale and Plunder. One hundred and fifty players are thrown into the city, and they fight to the last team standing. Currently, a team includes three players, but hopefully the developers will allow you to add up to 5 players soon. The loot mode is a bit different from the typical battle royale style because players are responsible for collecting money, and the first team to collect over a million wins wins the round. Warzone is a standalone installation that you can download from the Battenet app for PC, PS4, or Xbox One. If you've already purchased the game, the Warzone update is around 18GB - 22GB; otherwise it is a separate 80 GB installation.
