Microsoft Teams finally fixes one of the worst things about PowerPoint presentations

Staring at your laptop, trying to make sense of a little blurry text on a Microsoft Teams slide could soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new update.

The video conferencing service finally addresses one of the most annoying aspects of viewing online presentations through Teams by letting users zoom in or out on the slides they need.

Described in the official Microsoft 365 roadmap (opens in a new tab), the update will allow users to view a PowerPoint Live presentation to "zoom slide in private," in hopes of ending eye strain from further.

The feature will also allow presenters to zoom in on specific slides for all meeting participants, which could be useful not only for display purposes, but also to help draw attention to particular areas or data points, for example. , in financial results or data comparisons.

The update, which is still listed as "in development" at this time, has an expected general availability date of November 2022 and will be available to Microsoft Teams users worldwide when it is released.

It will be available to Microsoft Teams users on Desktop, Web, iOS, Mac, Android.

The launch marks the latest step in the partnership between Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint Live, as the company looks to facilitate closer ties between some of its most popular tools.

This includes the integration of Cameo and Recording Studio, two existing tools announced by Microsoft in 2021 that were intended to enhance the PowerPoint experience by enabling additional customization and recording tools, respectively.

Microsoft also introduced a recording studio for PowerPoint that allows users to practice their presentations in advance. The idea is that reviewing the images will help people refine their delivery and identify areas that need improvement before moving to Microsoft Teams.

The company also recently revealed support for live slide translation in PowerPoint Live, meaning slides can be instantly translated during a Microsoft Teams call. Presenters and attendees can privately translate presentation content by right-clicking on the presentation, which will open the "Translate Slides" option.
